I actually like my tall chute more than my 2 stage.

Hate to admit it what with the time & money I got in a deuce but the single is my go to. Mainly the weight but @dclarke put electrics on the chute and that is the cat's meow. Deuce is set up more for off the driveway business. Skids set up higher.

I run my P220 at 3200

Same here when the throttle creeps so i just let it run at that. Little better on fuel too.

Did you mention what tractor this is going on Bob?

I was told that not to long ago here on the forum, guess you can't believe everything you hear.  :hide:

At one time I thought they should mount on the inside but then I actually decided to read the owners manual. :D

Gotta tell ya tho Bob after further review looks like you got a real nice one. Paint not even worn off... very little if any rust and auger has no dings and looks to be very good shape. Guessing you checked the idler sprockets and the chain. That's the wear points on these. Seems the small drive sprocket on the topside likes to contract hook teeth syndrome more so than the idlers or the auger sprocket so keep an eye on that. Most of mine have  the plastic cover busted off so no a problem. Petes got you covered on lubing.

I sure did check them Jim. No visible wear at all. While I had the plastic cover off I poured oil on the chain as I turned it. I think it was worth the drive. :)

It's replacing the old short chute on the 76. I run the blade on the 05. I usually use it cuz it's more fun. This was a week or two ago and obviously I just got done using it. :)

@Racinbob  noticed your throttle creep  issue,  added springs to related cable ends as well as throttle plate, add a perforated  metal spring go to point on related mount bolt / screw . not only does it help overall cable push/ pull , but is responsive to the smallest  throttle touch , combined with  super lube aerosol lube , very smooth / easy , pete

Thanks Pete but you have the wrong guy. No throttle creep here.

I've had the issue in the past on various tractors and have always repaired them without added hardware though. I'm not too smart so I've always tried to keep it simple. :)

Don't know if Pete would approve but I use an off the shelf can of spray chain lube with a straw on it while turning. It does make a mess so a piece of cardboard under it. This I know Pete would approve of ...after every use!

That was me with the throttle creep Pete ... not severe enough to worry about it for now.

I don't have the blower to check Bob, @Cee245 owns it, but I think the factory is 5" and I went to 4.5".     My main reasons were one, to gain enough clearance to the housing to change the belt without looseninjg the jack shaft bearings.   And two, I run my P220 at 3200 because it just sounds so much better than at 3600.  So my smaller blower drive pulley  simply brings the auger  back up to factory design speed.      I don't have any evidence, but higher auger RPM should increase the performance of a single stage blower as it would for any  centrifigal  pump.

@Ed Kennell I changed the pulley back to what i think is factory size. I still have the one you had on there.  I'll try to check the sizes tonight and reply back.

Works for me too Bob ...I'm sure Ole Pete might say any lube is better than none! :)

Nah....not trying to do that. His advice is good. I just know what's worked for me without fail for over five decades. There ain't no changing this old dog. 🙃

Close Ed...

The one you had is 3.5". I put one on that is 4.5" but mine is too narrow.  I think I may change in back so i don't ruin the belt.  It works well though.

The only reason I changed that smaller pulley is I had thought it may spin the auger too fast and hurt it in the long term.

Does anyone have a recomendation on WHERE to order the correct size pulley?

Might be able to find'm cheaper elsewhere online but these cast pulleys are tough. A steel pulley will work too but just don't use any pot metal pulleys

  1. @WHX??  read your responses , my take looking at every intended function on a horse , is to make it easier , smoother , quieter . pulleys and belt set ups , usually packed in rust , think if you like it that way , don, t change a thing . ideas , are to be challenged  called out and laughed at , about done , pete
