SnoJet 20 #1 Posted February 28, 2022 I am new to the 416H. So far I love it. I picked it up a few months ago with a little over 300 hours. It had been sitting a while and the hydro lever linkage was a bit hard to move, especially into reverse. I just changed the oil and filter and lubed all the linkage. It is MUCH nicer to "shift" now but I noticed I need to keep my hand on the hydro lever or it will eventually work its way down and slow down the tractor. Is this normal? Keeping your hand on the lever seems strange. Separate issue but I noticed a small leak somewhere from the tranny. Just a few drops on the garage floor since I changed the oil. I used conventional 10-30 and it was a nightmare to burp/fill with that tiny dipstick tube! It is showing about 1/8" over full on the stick. I was thinking the dripping was just overflow from the mess I made while filling but that should have cleared up by now. Are there any common leak areas on these? Is this normal? Keeping your hand on the lever seems strange. You might need to adjust the friction on the cam under the seat. The downside is that will mean more pressure to make changes to the motion control lever. The manual says not to lubricate the friction adjustment, but I do and have good results. The initial "stiction" of movement on the cam is what must be overcome. There also tends to be a good bit of play that develops on all the linkages from the steering column through the pivot under the center console. Check them all for play, and lube them up as well. The pic below is slightly modified, but similar to what you'll see on your tractor. From there to the bottom of the motion control lever is where you want to look. 1 hour ago, SnoJet said: noticed a small leak somewhere from the tranny By far the most common point for small leaks is one of the seals on the axles. Brake shaft being the next most common. Both will seep down and underneath the case to the lowest point and form a drip there. Just run your finger along the underside of the case near the hubs.
