Well played Jim!

The BBT and I don't mind it too bad. Just have to compensate accurately for the temps and two VERY different toleration levels while we're outside.

She's half frozen a lot.

If we're active (hiking, snowshoeing whatever) I'm a little too warm even with lighter layers on.

Snow?

Whatever. We live in the mountains of Maine. It snows here.  :occasion-snowman:

Yes the first picture was from the sunrise diamond head hike. We also spent time on the big island as well.

Still waiting for a correct weather prediction. Many times this winter we have been told that we would be getting multiple inches of snow. Never seem to get very much though.

Same here Dan.      I thought I might trigger some blizzards when I replaced the blowers with plow blades about 5 years ago.    No regrets so far, the plows are working fine.

You bring you up a little pole in a few weeks and we'll go catch some brookies out back in our forest.

My eyes missed that one, good catch Pete. I was into fly fishing in Northern and Western Maine from around 1976 to early 1990. Now mostly smallmouth bass from a friends bass boat, luxury fishing I guess. Can't seem to find anyone who wants to walk into the remote ponds a couple miles or so getting eaten by black flies with me anymore. But when their biting so are the trout, kinda goes hand in hand.      :handgestures-thumbupright:

I have an old book I believe written by Dave Whitlock at L.L Beans many years ago. If I can find it you can borrow it and start reading up on it. Also in Eustis Maine there is a flyfishing school every spring at Tim Pond Camps, awesome place all native square tail trout. Instructors name was Bonnie Holding a Maine master guide I believe. Food and oldschool camps are second to none, they even bring your firewood to your porch. Check out the website. Also was a couple float planes there one a Beaver if your so inclined. May or may not offer that as I think it is still in the same family but possibly daughter and son in law operating it now. We will discuss some fly rod training.

@JCM  been kick pontoon boat fishing for many years, no noise , just gently kick over to rising fish or use a sinking / floating fly that mimics  the bugs in and on the water . just the typical oposet  of a  bass. boat . silently get in the fish zone and peacefully  enjoy it .fished montana many times , utah, oregon . private ranches . big heavy Kamloops trout , 25- 30+ inches. also bass fish often , pete

I have an entry level LL Bean fly rod here. I'll have you take a peek at it when you come up.

getting eaten by black flies

Brings back nightmares of several bear hunt and fishing trips North of Maniwaki, Quebec in June.  1960s.  We used head nets, coveralls, gloves and duct tape to protect from the swarm.

One year a young guy failed to seal his head net to his collar, and resulting bites caused his neck to swell to the point where he had trouble breathing. We had to rush him 50 miles South to the nearest medica center.     BTW, we were amazed to see the young school children waiting for the bus in shorts and tee shirts.    They were all native Indians.

The pike fishing was excellent, but fishing while wrapped in netting and duct tape  while surrounded by a cloud of buzzing black flys  determined to eat you was not my cup of tea.

That neck swelling is some serious stuff. Sorry to hear that, especially when in the remote back country.

@Ed Kennell  worst fly density and over whelming related noise , was on the togiak  river in Alaska. we were also heavily covered for bugs , the sky got dark  and the noise sounded like a giant bug humming  coming down the river , turned around , and got out of the area ,bug density was incredible  , pete
