Mustang67ford 234 #1 Posted February 20, 2022 On my 414-8, I know when you raise the deck, the rear wheels stay on the ground. Recenly came across a photo of a 416-8 with the deck raised and all wheels were off the ground. Wondering what is different between the 414 and 416 that allows the deck to be entirely off the ground.

Normally, they should come of the ground. Maybe you have a linkage issue. Or a different size in tires. since those tires only come marginally of the ground Edited February 20, 2022 by Maxwell-8
peter lena 8,588 #3 Posted February 20, 2022 @Mustang67ford look at your lift point lift start , can you make it shorter ? or will that restrict your final deck height ? look at every step of lift function , and you will probably see your possible answer , pete
pfrederi 17,685 #4 Posted February 20, 2022 Also depends on the height of cut setting. Set for a close shave wheels will probably clear the ground when deck was raised.

kpinnc 11,936 #6 Posted February 20, 2022 Most of the 300/400/500 series have a threaded drag link (#22 below) where the lift chain connects to the bellcrank. It can be adjusted fo a little extra lift. Or you can go up one link on the chain itself. Just be aware that you can go too far and that will make reaching the lift arm lock detent impossible to engage on manual lift.

Horse Newbie 7,057 #9 Posted February 21, 2022 Oh yeah… if the deck goes up, bottoms out… then the long rod that goes down through the lift handle that you push with your thumb won’t engage the locking slot because the deck hitting the frame will stop the lift arm from swinging far enough back to lock…
