This is not a pict from mine, mine is laying on a trailer.

But its the same type and it appears in same condition just to show you how it will look finally.

I was thinkering a long time arround a own Carlift because of the both fixed posts and the space they need

Thinkering to have maybe a flexible Car lift or a fixed one, both have their pros and cons

A mobile carlifter i can move arround and ain‘t loose that space, but where to put if unused....

at least 500 kilo for a mobile platform ain‘t be that slim and easy to handle.

At the end of the Day the fixed post lifter will be the smallest pain i believe.

But the final decision was at least very urgently while i get it for free,

completely unexpected for me because i was on the Way to fix it the electrical Side.

The owner turned it out with a new one and told me - take it or leave it one week time to pickup.

Since there was not any discussion further about the posts or not.

but before i will install it or even use it first time, i change all safety related parts,

no matter how good they appears. I ain‘t be interested in to catch up to 3 Tons with my head some day.

Mounting sets will come next week, than i got all material to bring it back again to an Active status.

The spindles are in great shape, the lift nuts and the safety nuts on both sides are in nearly new conditions.

They just sat so between 5 or7 years outside, nobody knows exactly.

The situation how i got it was confuse enough, because i just told then what i would change.

Than they decide to get another one, but they have allready the expensivest Parts organized.

- However, i be a thankfully new owner and spent the rest of Money for the few parts are missing.

best is the spindles are that thick greased, no rust can attack the spindles itself.

But last and not least, service and maybe work on the Wheelhorse can be done in a human friendly height.

Pry the Pulley of the Motor..

I don‘t trust this Motor with all that damages and also while it was sat 3 years outside, i will swap it.

Ok - let’s Fire up the Beast and let it stretch it’s legs after a longer Winterbreak

with few exercises and it work as it should.

one of the Posts weight about 160- 200Kilos. No problem for the Beast at all.

With it‘s FEL the complete Lift posts are premounted in less than a hour.

this FEL is my personal triumph each time i need it, because it simply works and lasts.

Things can be handled much easier and with the selfmade quickmount fork it is a perfect Machine.

Ideal in addition to my Wheelhorse.

Soooo, Basement is done,

now just install shorten and prespan the Chain with the long holes in the Posts.

After that, simply release the chainspanner and it works as it should.

i moved it on the Pulley, both posts seems to work.

Easy job, i expected much more problems than i had while rework and installing so far.

Even the Arms are allready partially reworked and mounted. Time to install the new Motor.

As i feared,  the pulley doesn‘t fit because the old motor shaft was 27mm and the new motor has a 24mm shaft diameter.

ok, new pulley ordered, stop for today at a sunny day with only 5deg.C

The van fits close Just 15 cm to each post..

hope the pulley comes soon...

first try with reworked electric with an VFD and a new Motor..

So far it works.

in the lower section i cleaned the spindle an let it run for a Testdrive.

it works and all safety switches work as they should.

Time to clean the spindles complete from the old grease and regrease them completely.

I made it - it Works now.

The first Testdrive was bad even with the new Motor.

i still wonder why it will be that Thicker, so i thinkering maybe it have more torque.

288BABBC-C7C0-4314-ABF5-58AFA65D3A62.jpeg.689b01a7e9697dba8f44d1f2030306a7.jpeg

Decision was done to rework the old original Motor, what have also just 2,2 KW linke the new one.

First steps first, reroute the wires and check if they have any Short to Ground ( PE)

all measurements appears to be fine.

but firstly remove all the shortcut plates for the Star Connection

53CC3DB4-A021-4D57-82B6-2D416FDAD8BE.jpeg.aab1af54090206e1f3e283f636a1ec00.jpeg

and measure all wires if the be ground free as needed.

yap, the be.

Than i set them into Delta (Triangle) Connection.

by Setting the Shortcut Pads as Shown.

Time for a New Connector Box from things i have on Hands.

3D0486F3-2203-4B2E-8AFD-138B9DE0FD83.jpeg.c54b9f30a1a3d7a30d530ae039799698.jpeg

Cutting it with a sharp Knive here it was called a Cutter, i believe you Guy‘s call it Stanley Knive.

I cutted it mm by mm to the right Shape.

3EEF37DF-D166-49BD-A762-2488C0A09A34.jpeg.224da98b8fa29428759a33e07ae00b0a.jpeg

I checked every Cut if it Fits and at least

i Fixed the broken Parts with Epoxy Glue in the new Order.

Again a recheck and measure the Wires and coils to get the hopefully same Resistance?

Yap

no short to PE ?

Yap.

Cool let‘s bring those 38Kilo heavy thing back on it‘s place and remount the Beltpulley back on.

pull all the 3 Belts on

set the prespanning on the Belts..

aaaand the first Testdrive.

86287AFB-2087-49F0-AC67-25D7462182E7.jpeg.3d9927244bc55feb9cf0bb47451abe6f.jpeg

Yap it works, just the Van appears to be a little too Heavy.

unbelievable how big the difference was between the old motor and the new Motor because both have 2,2KW.

but the torque on the old motor is much higher.

may i can extend the needed torque to lift the Van by a bigger Beltpulley.

doing some tests and there is just a little more Torque i need therefore.

When i push the Pulley by hands in addition to the motor it lifts also the Van.

ok, next Task is a bigger pulley and a new Set of Belts, than we should be fine.

Doing some math how strong i can make this Lift.

The Hardware is fine up to 3 Tons, so i need just few Nm more.

The original Pulley‘s have 60mm on the Motor and 210mm on the Spindles.

Changing the Spindlepulley to a 320mm shall do the Trick, the VFD will handle the needed Speed,

but on increasing the speed i loosing little torque.

let‘s see if i‘m calculated right.

Needed Parts will be ordered tomorrow.

Sparky

That’s a real handy addition to your garage!
And you have the ceiling height clearance which is nice if you do end up lifting the van :handgestures-thumbupright:
