The time it takes to clean those pesky hairs from a hare… equals about forever. 3. No lunch meat from town will equate to our next meal! TRUE extra credit: A 17 hmr is an adequate tool for the job. true and false. It is quick, humane and perfectly accurate. A spent .170” projectile > a axle. I’m thankful for a home cooked meal. I’m thankful for the right to keep and bear arms in a safe and responsible manner. I’m thankful that my wife and daughters will try any meat I toss on the table at least once. I’m thankful for a plentiful amount of hares al day every day. I’m thankful for small game season too. Peter’s on the smoker and should be done around 12:30 or 1:00. When I moved here on 5 acres in 1977 out in the 'boonies' I had the following wild life... The really pretty big red squirrels Roadrunners "meep meep!" Armadillos Couple species of hawk family White herons just at dusk heading to the large lake White tail deer 2-3 times a week, now 2-3 times a year! possums several varieties snakes (I found a 49" copperhead in the bluebird box one day -- HUGE!) Blue birds Theres probably a couple more I'm missing but you get the drift.... Sadly, now I see, dozens of the small (rat size) gray squirrels Crows in the dozens and while I - so far! - havent seen the wild hogs in my yard (thankfully!) theyre coming-- yuk! My area is covered with bald eagles, red tail and cooper hawks, red fox and coyote. The small animals have a tough time surviving. Temp changed a bit lately, I hope the auger didn’t get swollen pellets! It seemed done, but cold. I tossed it in some bacon grease for a few minutes each side and presto! I know yer on a smoker kick but Ed's insta pot with potatoes & carrots in a stew is probably a better choice. My grammys were both hard core Germans and had it down pat. They seared the meat after a egg/flour wash before the pot. It was delish. He’s me and my boy Wallace after we did a shoot that we would get paid to flush and retrieve birds. This is ten years ago, however I still have access to the estate where these shoots take place and get cleaned pheasants to take to my firehouse(volunteer) for our monthly dinner.
