formariz 11,987 #1 Posted February 13, 2022 Received some bad news late last night. My father is in hospital and not doing well. He is 88. Has taken a couple of bad falls too. Spent the day getting a plane ticket and making last minute arrangements .Not easy leaving my wife alone here. I have two sons but she will be alone in house they are not that close. She will be OK but I still worry since i don't know when I will be back. All neighbors are good friends too. In morning I got to get a Covid test and hopefully that will be negative otherwise I stay. All kinds of paperwork to simply board a plane. I think there are mortgages requiring less paperwork. Restrictions from here and restrictions from there. Total insanity. What a day. 22

kpinnc 12,097 #3 Posted February 13, 2022 Formariz, I hope and pray he's better soon! My dad went through a similar situation a few years back. Had to bring him home with me for 6 months, but he did recover and go back home. Dad was always self sufficient and proud. While that was a source of pride for both of us, he and I gained new respect for one another during the process of his healing. It was alot of work, but worth it. Dunno why I said all that except to try and say to keep your head up and don't worry. Life is what it is, but many times comes with a silver lining. 1

formariz 11,987 #12 Posted February 13, 2022 Snowing now too. Leaving to airport at 3. Going to do some plowing after test which will be at 10.30. Beginning to have lots of concerns with leaving my wife alone even though there is plenty of help for her.. The life of an immigrant, thousands of miles apart from family . Staying close to your kids and family is the best advice I can give everyone.

formariz 11,987 #25 Posted February 13, 2022 Sitting in plane while they are now deicing it. I really don’t like traveling in these things. It’s just like a sardine can. Pack them in tight.
