JimSraj 479 #1 Posted February 11, 2022 Newly rebuilt k301 with new fuel pump and carb developed a leak from the grommets in the old metal line that connects the pump to the carb. I got the new grommets and fixed the problem. Now the carb overflows from the hole at the bottom of the air intake soon after starting. I’m wondering if the float could be stuck but why would that start all of a sudden and just after the fuel line leak is resolved? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. For what it's worth, this is the exact reason why I no longer install, or even use, any imported carbs. There's almost certainly a bit of foreign matter in the seat or bowl area. The needle and seat aren't meeting properly. Take it apart and check things over carefully then clean and rebuild the carburetor. Be sure to double check float settings while you're in there. You'll want 2 cans of brake clean to clean out the carb and fuel line. If that doesn't work contact Norman at isavetractors for advice. If that doesn't work, toss the new import carb and get an original Kohler carburetor. Rebuild that. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
pacer 3,176 #4 Posted February 11, 2022 `Theres really only one thing that will cause fuel to come out of the carb like that and - as already mentioned - the float. or, specifically the needle/seat. And unfortunately the import carbs seem to have problems there. I use them and have bought prob 6-8 of them and have had that problem on 2 of them. On one it sorta fixed itself. on tear down and doing a flush out with carb cleaner it quit. On another I ended up buying a "kit" (which is basically gaskets and needle/seat) So, bottom line is .... its very likely gonna be the needle/seat - (A slim possibility the float itself) 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JimSraj 479 #5 Posted February 11, 2022 The overflow problem is resolved. As suspected there was a tiny piece of the old leather grommet in the needle column when I took it apart. Flushed with carb & choke cleaner, reassembled and back to running great. Thanks to all who offered advice and especially Oliver2-44 who nailed it. And Pete, yes it is an Isavetractors carb. No fault of the carb, just missed a little speck when I redid the fuel line grommets. I did have to change the choke rod to make it work properly on the Raider 12 though. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
