Daren Compton 1 #1 Posted February 10, 2022 I have a GT14, with a 3' pto tiller attachment. I'm trying to replace the tines without spending $600+ on it, as it's simply a garden tractor. All the mechanical stuff is good except the tines. Any suggestions? Thanks!
lynnmor 7,562 #2 Posted February 10, 2022 As you are seeing, new parts will cost plenty. You may have seen the parts offered by A-Z Tractor, at least they can be rebuilt. Other than that, you might have luck by posting in the classified section under wanted.
doc724 925 #3 Posted February 10, 2022 I took a slightly different approach. Having learned that worn tines look like shark teeth and you want square end ones, I would routinely prowl the on line classifieds. Persistence paid off and I picked up a lightly used complete tiller with excellent tines that had a leaky seal for $350. I replaced the seal and and sold the one I had for $150. Of course that was 6-7 years ago and things were more plentiful then.
kpinnc 13,739 #4 Posted February 10, 2022 If memory serves, the "axle" on that tiller should be 1.5 OD. Check and make sure, because my memory sucks. But- many tillers of the era use the same shaft diameter. I replaced mine with tines from a Ford LGT, and it will eat anything placed in front of it. I have also heard of folks using old mower blades to replace individual tines. Obviously that will require some heating and drilling, but it's something to think about.
