You appear to be missing part of the pad between the arrows.

Your brake lining is wore down to the metal on the front side of the band. Can see clearly in the pictures PM rmaynard and get a new lining, that will fix it.  Bob

Brake lining is probably original. May be oil soaked. You need a new one....

:text-yeahthat:TJ While yer in there take the brake hub off and clean it and the immediate area. Mineral spirits on a rag work good.

So what is the difference in @rmaynard brake bands and the stock bands. No offense Bob but just didn't know if they stoped you faster or the advantage. Because my neighbor has a 416-8 I could buy the band off of. I had thought about doing what @Achto told me about using the nut for extra space until I can buy me one.

The used brake band may be oil soaked making it not perform as well as a new band, and it is probably worn down already.

If you buy a new band it will be new.

My brake LINING is NOT the whole brake band, but just the friction material. Brake bands rarely go bad, just the lining.

And, I will say... Bob's brake linings are exceptional quality.

@rmaynard... I know it is off topic... but do you make lining for a peerless 1400?

None of us here have a PayPal account.

That slowed me down on a a purchase as well. It turns out that you can do the purchase on PayPal as a guest. No need to create a PayPal account. It does require a credit or debit card.

I will accept personal checks, money orders, or cash. As soon as I figure out how, I'll even accept Crypto. Never a need to hesitate because of no PayPal account. Just PM me and I can arrange any type of payment.
