@EB-80/8inPA  . Good find on that video. By the way. Those are English Pattern Estwing hammers. Notice different solid heads with no contours around the strike head. Notice also the manufacture date imprinted on handle sides.

It shouldn't be ok to sacrifice the good of one for the good of another. Sometimes it's an unavoidable but there's usually a half decent solution if we take a look from a different angle.

Sacrifice was indeed that lesson. Many times a little sacrifice on our part will help someone else in need and not really make a real difference in our lives. The real  difference that it will make is the feeling one is left with after that action,  always outweighing the actual sacrifice.

That last statement he made to me, was essentially a summary that he had mentioned before many times, such statement taking only seconds. There were however over our time together countless hours of conversation around that topic.

That's kinda the point I'm getting at in a bassackwards sort of way.

I personally know someone who will give and give and give. Never even a wish for a thank you.

Issue is... They sacrifice way too much and get next to nothing in return from people that just keep asking and asking and asking.

Kindness is paramount to a positive mindset and society.

And it must be a two way street when possible.

Their reward is their action. Their conscience and the feeling that they did right. There is an inner peace within one self afterwards. One walks through life with dignity and seeing and finding the good in people.

As for the recipients of such sacrifice from another, if their need was a legitimate one, they too will have such inner peace and hopefulness in human kind learning and perhaps doing the same for others one day.

The ones that keep asking and asking, they have to live with themselves. Unless their IQ is at the imbecile level they know what they are doing. Eventually it will catch up to them. It always does. it is then too late because they never learned.

I learned through out my life that almost always the more we try to get , the more it runs away from us.At the same time how we are dictates what we find. Some people are always complaining about every body they came across during the day and the interactions they had. They seem never to have a real good day.Is it possible? I on the contrary I seem to always come across good people and many time have pleasant surprises in my day. ( The subject for an upcoming thread).

Here’s a small (camp?) hatchet in the condition I found it. I think this would be a good candidate for reconditioning using the

minimum amount of replacement material, cleaned and smoothed/honed/oiled.  Notice the banding gets wedged near the bottom to make the curve.  I wonder if some glue would have been used there?  12.25” largest dimension.  I assume it’s an Estwing but see no markings.

Thoughts? Is this anything special?  It’s kinda cute.

Extra credit should be given for staging the pics on a Wheelhorse.

Extra extra credit would have been given if it was on a black hood… :handgestures-thumbupright:

Cool hatchet!

Maybe a leather shoe lace wrap could work without taking it apart…?

Yes, I don’t think it can be taken apart without altering the handle, unless the rivets can be re-lengthened after cutting the ends off.  Perhaps it doesn’t matter as it’s probably not that valuable.  IDK.  I do like your idea though; that would stabilize and render it functional with a minimal investment of time,  then think about playing with it when I’ve got nothing better to do.  I have some thick leather I could probably cram in there and glue as a temporary fix as well.  I have no black hoods laying around though, lol. Thanks.

That is correct. Just wrap leather shoe lace tightly around empty area.Feather the end of it and use Crazy Glue to hold end. Clean and condition the leather on handle and tighten rivets a bit.
