RED-Z06 2,221 #1 Posted February 7, 2022 But I live in Hurricane country...my commercial customers see alot of nails and residential customers too, as well as thorny bushes. Tubes are good but not always practical because you have to break them down to patch, and they get brittle, risk a pinch. A new tire..expensive. plugs are effective but they can leak in time. Ive tried pretty much everything...fix a flat is pretty much a joke, it seals next to nothing ive found, and if it seals it usually reopens soon after. Slime, its hit and miss, seals some stuff well, but works poorly on bead leaks, and is slow to work. Flat Out however, im at about 98% success rate at 3yrs in use, my 416-H sat in my shop so long the 1993 rear tires rotted and were full of cracks, the left was worst, it held air about 10 seconds. I put in flat out, inflated it and rolled it...i heard it seal...and in 3yrs since i have not added any air. The right tire sealed also but did blow out last year and i tubed it. My 312-8 had a wheel leak..the wheel was badly rusted... held air about 2 minutes, i put in flat out and it hasnt leaked yet. Ive used it on many commercial Z mower tires and so far my customers have not reported any flats on those tires even after pulling out nails..it seals them. That said I'd have to inbetween a rock and a hard spot before I used it. My is the only difference in the brands is the amount of french involved in having to clean said rim. Now if I was a working pro in a shop I would ask a customer if he preferred to use a product like this for 50 bucks with no guaranty or replace the tire for 150 with a guaranty. Fix a Flat tends to dry up after a short time but it seems to corrode the rims, cleanup is either with a rag or a wire wheel on a grinder. Slime is watery and makes a big mess on break down, which is odd because it goes in so thick. Flatout stays thick and seems to not dry out that ive seen. When i tubed my wheel horse tire that blew, the flat out was not bad to clean out, a few shop rags and it wiped out, its not a clean job...never will be just by the nature of it. I give customers their options. I just did a Hustler with a 20x10x10 rear tire...had 6 plugs already and had a nice sized screw in it and a wire that hooked through the tread an exited the sidewall. I told him... New tire: $75+15 install with a new stem. 90day warranty on leaks not from punctures. Tube the tire: $20+15 install...no warranty. Put in sealer: $25 with a 90 day warranty that it will plug the leaks up to 1/4"...or ill tube it free. The downside to a new tire is...the price and if you catch a nail first mow, its flat. Downside to a tube is, you catch a nail it has to come out and you get to pay for another one or for a patch. Downside to a sealer is, when it comes time to replace it, there is cleanup...
