lynnmor 7,308 #126 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Visit my post #116 again. You will be surprised how much more junk will come out when the tank is off and rinsed properly. Ethanol free is best but any fresh regular gas will be fine if it is consumed in a month or two. Again, only fresh gas in the tank, nothing else. Yah-man... that fuel looks worse than my recent project that sat around for 10 years without running. Don
TJ5208 1,824 #129 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Well it's all settled down. May I also add when I was draining the fuel tank out I used a gallon jug and the other one started overflowing and I grabbed another jug that had a teeny bit of milk in it but I don't think it would cause it to be that cloudy but it does look like the gas has gelled up in the bottom of it. I didn't try it should I it sounds like a very good idea the gas is really jelled up. Just have a little bit more to clean out of it and I'll be good to go and get some more fuel lines and stuff for it.

TJ5208 1,824 #133 Posted February 9, 2022 Oh it was a joke don't worry the only time I drink gasoline is what I'm trying to siphon it out and then you get a lot in your mouth.

(or your mom's kitchen sink if you want ) Then, sit it out in the sun and let it dry. You can also blow it out with an air compressor or backpack blower... something like that. I just don't think you will be able to get all the gunk out of the tank without physically cleaning it out. Just my opinion, of course. My 312-8 sat with a busted cap for at least a decade, i pulled it out the frame, dumped it, put in some degreaser (like purple power) then stuck the power washer in it, that agitating action broke alot loose..then let it hang upside down. I take an open air fitting and put it on my air line and snake it in...helps blow stuff out. Then a couple hours in the sun to fully dry. She was spotless inside.

Well, you could improvise... just get a jug of water, and maybe a scrub brush and do your best... Don

wallfish 17,011 #148 Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) Drop or 2 of dish soap, hand full or 2 of sheet rock screws (nuts and bolts if you prefer but the sharp edges of the screws really scrap the crap off good) Fill with water and shake the crap outta of it. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Make sure it's ALL dry before using. Edited February 9, 2022 by wallfish
