If you... are willing to waste a couple gallons of fuel... sure... sounds like a good idea... :snooty:

Good grief, you don’t have to fill the thing.

True, but scrubbing and rinsing until clean sometimes takes a couple of attempts. And in TJ's case... I think it might. :eusa-think:

Simply put... outside of burning it... I don't like wasting fuel if I can help it... unless you want to pay for it. :bow-blue:

Seafoam?  Stuff actually does work when used right.

It did a fine job on the tank in question.  I bought exactly one can of that stuff in my life and never needed even that.

I use kerosene, and then burn it in my heater.

Funny.

I have never bought a bottle of Seafoam... but don't crap on anyone who has used it with good results. I have used STP and MM in the past... with somewhat good results.

Different types of people... I guess... :dunno:

But... then again... I don't think any of it will make scum/water/mayonnaise/ketchup/onion in a fuel tank disappear like magic... either...

Water never helps...

Seafoam freezes around Minus 50...

Its good stuff, great decarboning agent, ive had briggs opposed twins that knocked from carbon buildup, do a quick seafom treatment while the oil drains, fresh air filter..plugs, and the knocking goes right away.  Its pretty much the only canned mechanic that i trust besides stabil360.

Yes sir. I haven't personally used it... but I have seen/heard a lot of positive news about it.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying it at some point on one of my engines... rather than taking it apart ...like a nut...

Okay guys we replaced all the fuel lines clean the tank out and hit the key and it just keeps on surging a bunch so it's probably the carburetor the fuel pump is working perfectly. On the plus side I got the fuel gauge to work because the negative wasn't plugged in.

Two choices

Run it until the gunk works it's way out of the carb.

Or the preferred method, pull the carb apart and clean it up. Brake cleaner works well for cleaning the carb up. Might get away with just pulling the top off and cleaning the junk out of the  bowl.

Seafoam is good stuff, and like any other it has a purpose.

It won't replace proper maintenance, and won't work miracles. It will MAINTAIN a clean fuel system, and help clear carbon from heads when used regularly.

When something has been neglected, no additive can fix it. You just gotta take stuff apart and scrub it. Then use Seafoam to keep it clean afterward.

@lynnmor  don't even think about ethanol  free fuel , sta-bil fuel treatment , fuel filters , clear vinyl fuel rated hose , fuel check valve just before carb , my 3 horses start instantly , require practically zero choke , from cold start  ,  this combo works .  greasy pete

Correct, its alot like Lucas stabilizer...if you never change your oil, it runs low and kicks a rod...you can marinate your broken rod in the stuff and its not magically going to fix it, but if you use lucas and regular oil changes your engine will magically last alot longer.

@RED-Z06 agree with your maintenance  idea (  what a concept  )  when you are looking at a train wreck , its difficult to cherry pick the cause of failure ,  learned to back away from that , just tell what I use to reliably  work , keep it greasy , pete
