TJ5208 1,824 #78 Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) Me and Dad just went out to the garage and tried to work on it we're going to wait till it gets warmer it's still not running right we're probably going to dissemble the carburetor we're going to try to see if the fuel pump is working we're going to go through the tractor piece by piece. TJ5208 1,824 #80 Posted February 7, 2022 I'm not sure if we're going to buy a whole entire new carburetor I don't we don't know really what's wrong with it we're going to wait till it gets warmer he don't need to be outside so we'll figure it out it's just going to have to be sitting for a little while I don't know if she can buy fuel pumps off Amazon or not but we're just going to try to figure it out before we start buying stuff or I'm probably going to do soon once it gets warmer I'm going to drain the whole entire fuel tank and check all the lines and stuff I'm probably just going to replace them. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
RED-Z06 2,221 #81 Posted February 7, 2022 Once you get the filter housing off pull the choke cable, 4 screws on top and the upper housing lifts off. Float and needle stay in the bottom. kpinnc 12,028 #84 Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) A cheap and easy option to try would be to seal that intake manifold seam. Two of my Onans surged and had to run full choke until I did that. The manifold is two pieces that are riveted together and is bolted to the carb from underneath. You can seal it without removing it, so no gaskets needed. The seam opens over time (heat cycles and aluminum) and air is allowed in. Just add a small bead of silicone gasket seal to the seam all the way around. It doesn't take much, and I just dabbed a bit on with my fingertip. Doing this greatly improved how my engines ran. Not to mention, if air comes in through a gap, it's bypassing the filter. I don’t know how it would hold up… I do know that it is fairly common for those intakes to have air leaks. Mine did, but it was where the heat shield had rubbed it. Yep, it ran fine till he pushed that new filter barb into a rotten fuel line and clogged the carb. Please always replace the fuel line downstream of the filter when installing a new filter.
