Don Id start putting old parts back on one at a time...start with the air filter, plugs...not the fuel filter unless you know for certain how it came off. Some trash could have gotten dislodged during the fuel filter change. See above filter... Don Kohler specs a 15 micron filter for carbed engines and 10 micron for EFI engines, briggs red filters are like 150 micron, briggs paper filters around 51 micron. Snoopy11 5,714 #46 Posted February 6, 2022 Looking at the fuel filter actually on the tractor, it is smaller than it initially looked to me. A couple of years ago, I had a similar issue with a napa filter (designed for tractor) that I put on one of my machines. I tried using it since I needed the machine back online immediately. However, it was WAY too big. AND... thus why I am a bit wary of fuel filters. I put a smaller filter on my machine, and it ran like nothing ever happened. Looking at the filter on TJ's machine somewhat leads me to believe it may be something deeper, like @RED-Z06 has mentioned here. Maybe some gunk flaked off and got into the carb...
