seven 202 #1 Posted February 6, 2022 I have two 50 # 14 inch round bar Bell weight. I was thinking about drilling four holes in them and using 1/2 all thread and bolting them in to my 12unch rims? ri702bill 8,319 #2 Posted February 6, 2022 I have made 2 sets of 25 pound front weights - they are NOT easy to drill and tap!! They usually use recycled cast iron in the mix to make the weights - coarse grain structure with hard spots - go slightly oversize on the tap drill and use a NEW tap! Had to undersize the holes on one set using carbide masonry bits then go to the other tap drill - it's all about the speed & feed rate of the drill in the material. Strap in, enjoy the ride!! Ifixoldjunk 778 #4 Posted February 6, 2022 @seven Shouldn't be to hard to do. I'd also check at all your power equipment shops near you. Chances are they have used wheel weights lying somewhere. seven 202 #5 Posted February 7, 2022 I'm also thinking about maybe this summer to take an old rim and make my own out of concrete? Or like you said look around for some wheel weights. ri702bill 8,319 #7 Posted February 7, 2022 @Sparky Mike - I blind tapped them to give them a cleaner appearance with no protrusions and the fixed threaded rod makes them easier to mount. Not shown are 4 setscrews 90 degrees apart that stick out about 1/4 inch on the inside - used a jig so they are positioned to be 1/32" inside the rim lip - helps greatly to keep them centered. 2 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
