Dave 1953, there is an alternative to the 8362 Ignition Switch

Dave, I'm sorry I didn't get to your post before @stevasaurus  closed it. You can use the 103991 switch in place of the 8362 with some minor rewiring. The 103991 is a three position (Off, Run/Accessory and Start) where the 8362 is a four position switch (Off, Run/Accessory, Run and Start). Since the PTO switch has to be in the OFF position to start the engine I see no advantage to the run only position. You can pick up a key switch wire harness on :techie-ebay: for around $ 10.00. You could use terminals you may have on hand but the wire harness is better because it uses the Packard 56 terminals which hold much better.

These two drawings will show where the wires on your switch will be placed on the 103991,  The "L" on the 8362 will be "A" on the 103991, otherwise the R goes to R, the B goes to B, the M goers to M and S goes to S.

Thanks, I'll get one. I'm pretty good with wiring up generic switches vs. the expensive one the book calls for. I just wish I had seen your post earlier and it would already be here. Some previous owner mounted a push button switch on the dash and jerry rigged it when the original on broke. Thanks.
