Fergus 62 #1 Posted February 3, 2022 Hey guys. Some of you may have seen my request for a 212-5 deck for my machine. In searching, I saw this inaccurately described (as being in good condition) 212-5 on eBay and I talked the guy down from £550 to £200 by pointing out some major faults just from the photos. When I turned up to buy it, I pointed out some more and got given it! It's a bit of a basket case but I will be able to make a good machine out of my two. The deck will need some repairs but that shouldn't be much of a problem. 2
Jeff-C175 7,202 #2 Posted February 3, 2022 (edited) Quote The deck will need some repairs HA! Understatement of the week! That's a bit knackered! What's may be even weirder is the fact that he still had the cover piece laying around! That didn't happen just yesterday... Fergus 62 #3 Posted February 3, 2022 It's not pretty is it? What should it look like? Should it hinge? Should I weld it on? Ferg

I wonder if he was trying to make an 'edger' out of it and cut that off to expose the spinning blade? What's may be even weirder is the fact that he still had the cutoff piece laying around! That didn't happen just yesterday... I might be on the wrong path, Jeff... but could it be a mulching cover? Don

I thought the discharge was on the OTHER side and that the PO had cut this off with a hacksaw. Now I see that it IS the discharge side, but it is a 'recycler' deck.

Yes sir, I thought the same thing originally. Anyway, it DOES look pretty hacked up... Definitely Needs a good bit of work. Maybe an investment in some thick sheet metal to repair where it is all bent and broken... Don
Snoopy11 5,714 #8 Posted February 3, 2022 If it was me, I would cut everything straight there at the edge of the hole, and either leave it open like it is, or buy one of these... Don
