36” snowblower, good buy?

Recommended Posts

WheelHorse520H

Hi, I have been dying to get a snowblower for my 1988 520 H or my 607 and was wondering if this one on FB is worth the price and will even fit either of my tractors. Especially after this past weekend’s storm I see a growing need to keep a snowblower handy. Let me know your thoughts. Is it okay to put up these photos? If not I’ll take them down ASAP.

Thanks,

Andrew

Once I logged on again they don’t work for me either, they might be too large. I usually have to make them smaller. Let’s try this again…

Price isn't bad if it's all there. Older one, can't see the handle to turn the chute

Neither can I, is that expensive? Would it fit either tractor? That’s kind of a deal breaker if it doesn’t fit anything I have. The only thing the description says is, “In operation go condition. NEED GONE!”

Thanks for the help

@WheelHorse520H  does not have the chute rod / handle on it , might be in the area , that single stage blower is a 36x42 , with those  " sided cutters  " that are on it in place. another thing that looks good in picture is that the auger is not chewed up or bent . if you were to get this , obviousely a very thorough detailed inspection , from someone that is familiar with these blowers. should be up on a table bench so its total function is visible.  probably needs a # 40 chain  for the auger , its probably savable , you are looking at neglect and much needed service, I have the same model , that works , pete

Should fit the 520.  Would have to come with a front tachmatic to work on 607 (way lacking in HP to be truly effective)  Do not see the flag or lift rod. (circled) They are available but cost $$

Look for cracks at the front top corners of the housing

Presuming the seller meant "good condition", to that I say Horse Crap.  It's missing parts and appears to need significant work.

That thing hasn't been used in a decade or more.

Something I’ve considered for a while but haven’t thought about much. Maybe I will. Thanks for putting the bug in my ear again, I’d love to help out.

So it sounds like it needs work, so that begs the question what would y’all pay for it?

That’s what I typed but I’m sure you’ve encountered autocorrect.

Handy Don

Add a price greater than $10 to the cost/effort of acquiring the parts needed to fix/complete it.

IMHO, that number would make buying a complete and working and known-to-fit your machine a better deal.

Even a good used one would probably need chain and sprockets. Save you $$$ and look for a complete one.

I don't believe I would pay for it.

Give the guy your number and tell him when he can't sell it, you'll haul it away for free.

Easy enough for me to do. I’m now glad I put this up before I bought it. Thanks again guys.

But, on the other hand, IF you have the ablility to strip it all down and replace the bearings and such that are most likely worn out, AND you can find any and all missing parts...

It MIGHT be worth... oh... 25-50 bucks?  Maybe?

I just rebuilt an old rusted hulk of one that was given to me.  I think I spent maybe $150 in parts and paint.  And a LOT of time stripping it down, welding up the cracks, and repainting it.

You can find nice ones in the $300 range that don't  need rebuilding.

I would ask Karl to kick you off the forum if you DIDN'T post photos!!! (not really) :laughing-rolling:

Bring us your tired, weary, broken, untamed, or even thoroughbred horses. Better yet, send us pictures!!! :banana-gotpics:
