42" RD hanger tab

Recommended Posts

Mustang67ford

While redoing my deck, I noticed this tab welded to the middle hanger arm.  It is right above the tensioner spring in the photo.  I thought it was factory, but looking thru pics, I'm thinking its not.  Any ideas if its factory or why the previous owner may have added it?

Not on my 42 either.

I'm also not sure if mine has those 4 holes in front of the center pulley either?

I found the deck or one similar  "05-42RY02" 1991 Its been modified to fit the tractor. It came off a machine that had the engine mounted on the back, might have been a small residential zero turn or rear engine rider.

I can tell that much by the belt drawing. There was original a tab welded on right side of the deck just past front hanger, the four bolt holes was for a front mounted belt tightener.

Mount it on your tractor and see what is directly above that tab

I just confirmed that I do not have those 4 holes on mine.

@Mustang67ford

I've been searching Google images to see if I can find decks with those holes and I have seen one or two.  Don't know what they are for.  The vast majority of them do NOT have those holes.

Here's a thread from 2020 posted by  @tom2p that shows a 42 with those holes, so they most likely are factory, but not on all decks.  Maybe Tom knows their secret special purpose?

Well, easier said than done.  In the process of tractor restoration so can't do at the moment.
