ebinmaine 67,494 #1 Posted January 31, 2022 In our home workshop we've done three full frame off complete disassembly right down to the last nut bolt and washer restorations/builds. We've been working on what I envisioned as my own version of a Big Wheel tractor for two and a half years or so now, off and on. Recently we made a turning point on that project that I've noticed in the past, on other projects, is sort of a psychological boost for me. The engine block now has paint. In the sequence that Trina and I seem to have developed that's the point in the project where things begin to meld together towards reassembly. The closest I have to a show tractor is my 417-8, and that's only because it was in good to excellent condition when I got it. I have some others that have come in various conditions, some were just for parts. Mongo was built more because I had all these parts lying around and they take up less space as a whole I get excited when I can coax life from an engine that's been sitting idle for any length of time. getting the fuel/carb straightened out, cleaning and di-greasing contacts and grounds, finding the reason the PO gave up. sometimes it's soooo simple. Hearing the first stuttering coughs from a machine. hearing it smooth out (hopefully without excess smoke from the exhaust!).
