peter lena 8,720 #6 Posted January 30, 2022 @ TJ SALYERS, sounds like a combination of things , worn belt , but probably more with , rusty linkage , and probable pulley bearings . another thing , is do you have the hydraulic dampener cylinder on that linkage? known for failure , easily changed over to a reliable spring . needs a thorough functional check . pete Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

A dead giveaway is those rusty walls inside the pulley--not kept polished by the belt rubbing on it--tells you the the belt is riding on the bottom of the pulley. Belts transfer power to pulleys through wedging against the sides, not the bottom. Plus you'll want to get rid of the rust in that pulley--it'll eat your new belt. You can "shoe shine" very very fine emory paper or scotchbrite abrasive pad pressed into the groove using the worn out belt. 1 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

peter lena 8,720 #12 Posted January 31, 2022 @Handy Don good pick up on that don, there is a lot of surface rust in the area , typically when a problem is brought up , its about the single spot of trouble , but the entire function and related movement and worn parts that make up a failure has to be addressed . found that detailing related linkage , often rusty and worn , has to be serviced. have other details that I would do to that problem , but , let someone else address that , oily pete 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
