Moparfanforever 844 #1 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) Does anyone have these mounted on a tractor ?? My question is , did the adaptors come with the bottom bar that locks in place ?? The only way I can see to get the locking bar out of a new attach a matic is to cut it out and weld it back into the brackets?? Not sure why WH even put the E clips on the outside of the lock bar , the two tabs are welded onto the bar and will not move side to side to remove it. Am I missing something ?? Thanks !! If this is the case, there is a good chance that the shaft is brown welded (rusted) inside of the tube. Might need to apply some heat to the tube and a big hammer to the end of the shaft. Careful not to peen the end of the shaft or it will not push through, 5
Moparfanforever 844 #3 Posted January 27, 2022 Well , call me dumb , never even thought of that !! This one is slightly bent , but I will get another and try a hammer and punch. Hopefully , I can find one that isn't brown welded into place. Thanks !!
pfrederi 17,684 #4 Posted January 27, 2022 I have them mounted. You have to use bottom pin. As Achto said may be rusted but also that tube frequently gets bent making getting pin out a lot harder

Moparfanforever 844 #7 Posted January 27, 2022 Thanks for the pics !! I was afraid the adaptors mounted that way , I am going to have to cut the small brackets that are welded to the frame because my brackets hit the angle pieces and will not set flush. pfrederi 17,684 #9 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) There are two models of the adapters. As I recall some modification was require by the installation instructions Edited January 27, 2022 by pfrederi
Moparfanforever 844 #10 Posted January 27, 2022 It is a 67 or 68 Charger , has the SG on it. I will snap a pic of what I am talking about.
Moparfanforever 844 #11 Posted January 27, 2022 I will have to get the hood off to get a better look , but not sure I can use these on the tractor. Looks like I may have to take some metal of the bracket for the hood.
c-series don 8,673 #12 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) @Moparfanforever Can’t you put that on the other side of the tractor ? Basically switch the brackets around? Or will that make it too wide? Edited January 27, 2022 by c-series don
Moparfanforever 844 #13 Posted January 27, 2022 I kinda sorta tried to fit it , but I think it will be to wide .

daveoman1966 3,745 #16 Posted January 27, 2022 (edited) All ya gotta do is drill 3 holes (3/8") and bolt the Front Tach-o-Matic hitch to the Hood hinge plate. Here is a Raider 10 with the 'upgrade' installed . I am attaching a file "MULE DRIVE UPGRADE.PDF with narrative and pics for anyone's use. pfrederi 17,684 #17 Posted January 27, 2022 Welding was not always a strong point for Wheel Horse. To put the adapter on one of my chargers i had to grind off a lot of excess weld between the frame side rails and the front plate.
Moparfanforever 844 #18 Posted January 27, 2022 Dave,I did read your post on doing this and I fit the mule drive up to the tractor and I am still going to have to cut some of the hood hinge bracket because the mule drive is to wide.

If you use the THREE 1/2" ID square spacer nuts...as in this pic (MULE-17) ...the Front Tach-o-Matic hitch will fit snugly between the hood hinges...you MAY have to GRIND each top corner of the front hitch just a little (as in MULE-15 below), but it'll fit....as with this Raider. The two NUTS also make the front hitch VERTICAL. 2
