Call me crazy... I think it applies... yes...

Perhaps, you could weld a bigger pulley to the back plate, and reinstall the clutch system... by welding a pulley to the back plate, then reinstalling the clutch front plate system...? If you think I am nuts, please disregard...

What’s the smallest diameter a 5/8” belt can bend?

My opinion... 3...

But that's just opinion. You could technically make it do... whatever you want...

You just have to add an idler pulley. No biggie...

Look at the belt in the engine pulley as you ride it and see where it is sitting in the groove. If it's only 1/2 way to the outer edge then you're leaving speed on the table. Longer belt with a spring loaded idler will allow the belt to ride up in the pulley and take up the slack at lower speeds and idle.

I have a spare clutch.  I thought about machining both sides to a larger diameter so it gets bigger when it closes.

Something like that... coupled with a smaller pulley on the trans input... it should be fast enough...

You didn't notice my post after that... did you...? I even quoted myself... :eusa-think:

The 40 series torque converter is rated up to 18 hp but that's for a go kart with a direct chain to the axle.

Consider there's a geared down trans and I Guarantee you it won't have an issue

Then why even post that link in the first place without reading the ad :dunno:

Why are you nit-picking? :eusa-think:

I just gave an example of what you were talking about. Very simple.

Do I think it will work safely long-term... Nope.

Let's use a tiny bit of logic here...

If they weren't necessary... why are there torque converters for different power levels / rpm levels? :confusion-scratchheadblue:

Hmm... :eusa-think:

Bold statement.

If I was going to do something like that... I would go with something like this: https://www.gopowersports.com/gopowersports-780-tav-kit-18-to-30hp/

Don

I'll leave all the good advice up to snoopy from now on.

maybe the fuel filter is too big and that's the issue :dunno:

It;s not nit picking and you called me out by quoting my link. And now doing it again with the "Bold statement"

If you know what you're talking about give GOOD advise but guessing on advice doesn't actually help anything except your post count!

Boy oh boy, that looked like a terrific fun reward for a ton of work! And you even caught some air over the driveway plow berm.

Inspiring stuff, there @Pullstart. 🛠❄︎❄️🤗😀

I thought we were having a conversation... trying to help. At least... I was. I have a bit of experience with torque converters... and little though that experience may be... I have common sense enough to speak up when I think something might not be such a good idea.

Nope, the guys on the forum taught me that my previous experience with fuel filters was wrong. I admitted that I was wrong. I guess your just trying to make sure I get some extra lashes :teasing-whipyellow:

Giving a "guarantee" on something that wasn't designed for this much power... is pretty bold. I wouldn't make that statement. That was my only point.

I'm not guessing. Maybe you should look at the HP rating of the Torque converter that you linked to. Quite telling. Least the one I linked to From GPS is rated for more power. Still not enough to make me want to use it.

I’m going to try to go with a smaller rear pulley and maybe machine the front and go from there.
