We just never realize how often our big toe comes in contact with stuff, until it's raw to the bones all the way to your ears! I told my wife that there was ZERO chance childbirth was worse than my toe. ...so she made a point of bumping into it or dropping something on it accidentally on a regular basis until I apologized. 2 6
Horse Newbie 7,069 #27 Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) @kpinnc I mashed a finger once… the doc removed the nail as he had to put stitches in the NAIL BED ! Not too bad getting the stitches, as it was numbed, and it was protected by a finger sleeve while it healed. BUT… when it was time for the stitches to be removed, the nurse said “You want Lidocaine?”, I said “no, I had stitches out before, go ahead”. She “touched” the end of a stitch where it was tied, and I jumped and stopped her ! I said better deaden it. She said “I thought you might change your mind”, and explained how many nerve endings were under the finger nails. 😄😄 God made it that way so we can “feel” things, and be very precise with our hands… Edited January 28, 2022 by Horse Newbie

Beap52 809 #29 Posted February 3, 2022 About 50 years ago I was replacing the brakes on a 47 Chevrolet. Used a screwdriver to help guide the brake spring in place, Screwdriver slipped and I buried the hook on the spring in my finger. Still gives me the willies thinking about it. That prompted me to get a pair of those fancy brake pliers that I still use to this day. Like they say, if you going to be stupid, you better be tough! By the way, I still have the 47 and worked on the brakes this past fall.

Pullstart 62,834 #31 Posted February 3, 2022 @WHX?? I’m here! Nobody mentioned yet, busted knuckles do suck. When someone else (big brother?) slips and busts you with the wrench, that really sucks. Makes you wanna whack him back! 1

That is why this post is listed under "Bumps and Bruises" rather than "Masochism Memories". Nobody said they enjoyed injuring themselves they just admitted it happened. Personally I try to keep my blunders a secret. Nope, never did any of those stupid tricks. 1

Or when out of no where the wrench slips. I'm like ouch one second and back at doing what I hurt myself doing again. Pull, don't push! I've taken a few stitches doing that over the years. I have a saying: "The job isn't finished until it's been annoited with blood."
