ebinmaine 67,641 #3 Posted January 24, 2022 It's this one: That's too blame for the excess food consumption. Note how it's just sitting right IN the food with no regard for it's Barrelmates. Clearly. Birdimus hugus appetitus.

troutbum70 857 #7 Posted January 25, 2022 Yep they sure do like bird seed, they really like the fruit and nuts kind. 1
bc.gold 3,403 #8 Posted January 25, 2022 I set out some oats in a shallow pan late this afternoon for the small doe, after my oat supply has been used up I'm going to bring some wheat into the warm basement and see if she likes spouts.
bc.gold 3,403 #9 Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) Once the grain ha been re-hydrated, I'll need to transfer into a larger pan. This is new turf for me and I'm not sure how long it'll take for the wheat to sprouts or even if the deer will eat them. 953 nut 55,324 #10 Posted January 25, 2022 We have some rather large birds that come to our feeder from time to time. The feeder is right outside my wife's sewing room window and I refer to it as the Cat Home Entertainment System. 2 2
stevasaurus 22,764 #11 Posted January 25, 2022 If you have a "Deer Crossing" sign near your house, maybe you can get the county to move it down the road a bit???

giddyap 1,569 #18 Posted January 27, 2022 @bc.gold My bird feeder is in the shape of a house up on a post. So much feed falls to the ground I was considering a pan like yours. Then again I never knew cats liked bird seed so I'm just going to keep it like it is 1

kpinnc 12,097 #22 Posted January 28, 2022 You could put an electric fence charger on it. It would only shock whatever touches it and the ground at the same time...
bc.gold 3,403 #23 Posted January 28, 2022 (edited) Our cat asked to go out doors to use her greenhouse facility but when she spotted two deer I ended up carrying her part way. Edited January 28, 2022 by bc.gold
Beap52 815 #24 Posted January 29, 2022 Maybe a informational sign in in order: Warning 0ut of season shooting deer is illegal The grain in this pan is for birds, squirrels and other small animals Any deer eating this grain will be shot on sight!
