oldlineman 1,481 #2 Posted January 24, 2022 I have no experience with W H snowblowers, but I would replace that bolt with a soft bolt or maybe even an aluminum bolt. Good to have a relief point in the drive line. Bob 2
SylvanLakeWH 25,501 #3 Posted January 24, 2022 No shear pin is asking for breakage where you don’t want it…
roadapples 6,983 #4 Posted January 24, 2022 My brother picked up a rock last week that bent the auger in his ss blower. Bent enough it was hitting the top of the housing. Could not make a complete turn. Took it to our local machinest in Gettysburg. He chucked it in the lathe and turned it slowly to see how much it was out, then put in the press to straighten. Did this back and forth till he got it dang near perfect. About an hour. This blower has a rod the whole way through with a bearing on each end. No place for shear pins. By the way, he charged him 20 bucks. Needless to say he has plenty of work....
R Scheer 502 #5 Posted January 24, 2022 (edited) I was told by my dealer the 2 stage blower uses shear bolts, and not to use regular bolts. I don't know about the single stage throwers. Edited January 26, 2022 by R Scheer Typo
