no sheer pin on snowblower ??

blowing snow today with my model # 79366 2 stage and noticed i was leaving a trail on one side so brought in garage and found one side the bolt on the shaft was broken which i thought was a sheer pin,so go to look up part and everything i read says toro does not use sheer pins,what is it thet broke off then ? other side it looks just like a sheer pin,ihave not tried to take out broken piece yet till i find out what kind of pin it is

I have no experience with W H snowblowers, but I would replace that bolt with a soft bolt or maybe even an aluminum bolt. Good to have a relief point in the drive line. Bob

My brother picked up a rock last week that bent the auger in his ss blower. Bent enough it was hitting the top of the housing. Could not make a complete turn. Took it to our local machinest in Gettysburg. He chucked it in the lathe and turned it slowly to see how much it was out, then put in the press to straighten. Did this back and forth till he got it dang near perfect. About an hour.

   This blower has a rod the whole way through with a bearing on each end. No place for shear pins.

   By the way, he charged him 20 bucks. Needless to say he has plenty of work....

I was told by my dealer the 2 stage blower uses shear bolts, and not to use regular bolts.  I don't know about the single stage throwers.
