RetroMower 349 #1 Posted January 23, 2022 I'm really good at identifying the model of a wheel horse when it's clearly labeled on the hood or belt guard but not so good if that is missing. Looks to be in good shape besides the missing engine. I'd laod up more pics but the seller thought one was sufficient
kpinnc 12,085 #2 Posted January 23, 2022 Sometimes the date code cast into the transmission can clarify, but otherwise that is a 58 or 59 RJ. There were literally 10 times as many 59s produced over 58s. They were mechanically and cosmetically identical. Looks good!
RetroMower 349 #3 Posted January 23, 2022 Even with my limited wh knowledge I'm fairly sure being an RJ is a desirable model. What engines were these equipped with? Also wondering if the $325 price is in the ballpark

cafoose 3,355 #6 Posted January 24, 2022 Look here for a casting date near the shifter. This one is K27-9
wallfish 17,011 #7 Posted January 24, 2022 1 pic from the seller is sufficient for that one! RJ58 or 59. Probably 59 if that's the original seat but 58 and 59 were all tagged RJ-58. The tag on that one is missing or possibly painted over. Front left frame rail was the location for it. Expect to pay for some parts like a belt guard and heat shield along with an engine. K91 or a Clinton B1290 will round that out nicely!

wallfish 17,011 #9 Posted January 24, 2022 Yes. There were some electric start optional accessories for those engines but not offered from Wheel Horse. Dealers may have added electric starters to those engines though
