used fine line tape the body shop at work uses

Maybe the surface wasn’t quite right to accept the paint… those spray bombs can be a pain.

I use spray bombs and sometimes it’s like rolling the dice… sometimes you win, sometimes you lose…

Most times I can get it good enough for me though…

yours looks good !

this is my first rattle can paint job . I'm not thrilled with the result's . my other 2 tractors the body shop guy were I work  sprayed them I bought the paint . this one here just a quicky job I am going to mow with it this year just wanted something that looked decent for now . the hood was a little rough before painting  it probably will get some scratch's here and there over time and i may completely tear it down and paint it right in the future.

the black was rust oleum machinery spray bomb and it started spitting bits out of can something like specks of sand when i was half done spraying  nothing i could do but re sand and start over but i wasn't going to need to get it done

well it runs got it out and run it around the yard a bit . it does smoke some but the more it ran it cleared up some . don't know how long this sat before i got it it sat in my shed bout a year . ran great after i got the carb adjusted right and adjusted the hydro so it wouldn't creep in neutral . reve'd it up and once it hit high r.p.m. it wanted to go . now it work's like it should . need to get decals on it and the hood strap's and fix the paint that messed up on hood . then put the 48"  deck to it .

fixed theses headlight bulbs so they fit tight and won't move fabed a peice up after seeing a massy garden tractor and used a connector nut on stud and bolted bracket down also ran a ground wire all the way to lights

well after about 3 years of procrastinating  finally got this 48" deck done this originally came with my 76  C 120 when I bought it .when to my local WH dealer today and bought the 5 plastic roller wheels new gas gauge for in the tank air filter and deck belt and belt deck to motor which were oem  toro WH  parts and walked out of there with a bill of almost 200 bucks . theses parts not getting any cheaper lol . this deck had all the brackets wallered out i welded all the wallered  out holes  and redrilled them and bought new bushings now this thing is solid . I have some touch up to do once I get it on tractor

48" deck

It appears that your belt cover is one piece?  I've only ever seen 2 piece covers.  I guess the older ones were one piece and WH realized that it would be nearly impossible to remove the cover without removing the deck from the tractor and went with one piece which are easily removable with the deck mounted.

Blew it up my big screen and still see one piece.!?!?

Look at the rear side of the center pulley how it wraps around and you can't see the idler tension spring.

As sitting in the seat… look at the right side… the inside edge of the cover is hidden by the shadow…. never mind… I just seen it.

Good eye… you’d make a great detective !

BTW… I can see a little of the tensioner spring in the small crack between the center pulley and the belt cover…

@briankd  noting your battery cabling picture, that cable bolt to dash area , point is a great spot , to add to related ignition grounding as well as headlights . just a thought , that eliminated ground problems I had , sparky pete

this is original one piece and only way to get cover off is to unbolt the mounting linkage from deck which is a pain. this is a 1976 deck

that picture is before i redid the grounds . ran all the ground's to central point on frame then to battery . didn't want a lot of wires at the battery negative

had a bit of a set back today . was going to mount this deck and realized I didn't sharpen the blades . stood it up and proceeded to take them off and the nuts was galled on the spindle shafts . I  @#$#@#@#@ awhile and only had 12 point sockets here at home was afraid the nuts would round off and my cheap 1 1/8  wrench spread and wouldn't hold the spindle . theses spindles have a hex behind the blade on shaft. off to work I went and  brought some tools home had to beat the wrench on was bit too wide to fit between blade and spindle housing . heated nuts and had 3 foot pipe on breaker bar and they snapped loose. only one spindle sort of pulled the threads and the nut is junk .will need to get a nut and I think if I run a tap over the spindle should be ok .

theses blades are like new looks like i was the first one to sharpen them . at least they could have put never seize on them . I always never seize  all my blade bolt's / nut's makes a difference and reapplied every time I pull em to sharpen

any one have experience using the gator   blades especially  in fall leaves do they do a good job mulching them up or waist of time ?

Someone WAY overtightened them!  They should be no tighter say. 90 ft lb.

I wanted to try the Gators on my deck but determined that the 'wing' part would have hit the rear apron.  My deck was bent up at some point by previous owners and a non molested deck may not have that problem, but it's something to check before you purchase.

stoped at my buddies mower shop after work and he had nos deck parts and he had new nuts . Toro really likes them nut's 5 bucks a piece have a 3/4 fine thread tap will run over the shaft  20220404_185647.jpg.07279538789d226923d052a6583af5b7.jpg

then I seen this WH tiller sitting there been looking for one last spring and none to be found they somewhat scarce around me he just got this yesterday and for sale . would work great on my C120 it even has the rock shaft for it . i don't need one now since I inherited my father inlaws troy bilt pony tiller it even has electric start and in mint condition . this tiller good shape it may need an input shaft seal turns over smooth . I really don't have any more room to put crap my shed full

yes they did overtighten my deck pretty mint on the underside local mower shop here stock's them but they are out at the moment I will buy a set . I like to buy parts local if able internet parts ok but need to support the local guys or they won't be around . would like a second set anyway may as well try the Gators . seen guys use air impact tools putting blades on STUPID  you never have to get them that tight then would never get em back off

took this out Thursday and pulled the yard roller around with it . it was a smokin and realized put too much oil in it . I assumed it took same amount as my c120 2 quart but has different oil pan and only holds one quart . also it dripping oil out the governor shaft  running down on the point's cover even after i drained the quart out . i had the valve cover off this to adjust valves and that there is fine maybe was blocked up causing crankcase pressure but it isn't .  all the vibrating over the years had the governor shaft nut egg shaped . went and got a new used one that fits tight on shaft and will try that .

other than that it run's great .

also pulling under load notice motion control wanted to slow down  and had to crank the tension down on it so it would hold the speed you would set . I still prefer my gear drive for pulling anything heavy

Can you sit comfortably on that Troy bilt while it runs?

The tines on that tiller look to be in good shape. That is always a plus!
