Pullstart 62,851 #1 Posted January 19, 2022 I’ve been tinkering with stuff that I wouldn’t mind unloading in the near future. This one, if I can’t get it to run right, might just end up as a trash heap project of sorts… @Gregor / Casper style. I really like the tires for the front of a worker Horse… that’s another reason I’m not terribly attached to it.

Pullstart 62,851 #3 Posted January 19, 2022 Initial inspection? Out of gas. Can’t be that easy AGAIN! One of my last dead on arrival jobs was a lack of explosivous liquidous. 2
Pullstart 62,851 #4 Posted January 19, 2022 Also, no spark. There it is. I’ll pull the flywheel shroud and investigate.
Pullstart 62,851 #5 Posted January 19, 2022 My guess… is that the answer to no spark lies in this photo.
Pullstart 62,851 #6 Posted January 19, 2022 Sure enough. Some repair shop twisted the kill wires together and duct taped them off. When they couldn’t “fix” this junk, they sold her an $800 machine. Sad.

Just crimp an alligator clip on to that wire, clip it back on to the spark plug & you'll be good to go. Never mind, now I see that it is the kill wires that were "Shoe Maned" Edited January 19, 2022 by Achto 1
Achto 27,571 #8 Posted January 19, 2022 So you separated the wires and now you have spark, right? 2

A friend of ours brought his husky tractor to a Green dealer. They billed him $400 and claimed it was fixed. 2 weeks later... Same exact issue. BBT mechanic service and I took it apart and found no evidence of repair. 1
Gregor 4,846 #11 Posted January 19, 2022 30" inches would be just about right. Wouldn't need much wing on either side, and I'm guessing it might weigh less than these 2 Lawn Boys. If your are going to unload it, you may as well unload it in Illinois.

Greg, quit being so lazy and get in the car. I told you I have one over here that you should own. So it's a thousand miles away? 1
Pullstart 62,851 #13 Posted January 19, 2022 The way it runs, I figured I might keep it in the shop for a while
Gregor 4,846 #14 Posted January 19, 2022 If it's self propelled, start it up, put in high, and point it towards Chicago. I'll find it.
Achto 27,571 #15 Posted January 19, 2022 (edited) @Pullstart just watched the video, seems to run great. Pisses me off that a shop would trick someone into buying a new machine like that. I would be telling everybody that I know about how they do business. As for the head light on that blower. If it is like my Ariens and most others that I have worked on, it will be AC power not DC power. So the wires can not be grounded. To check this disconnect the wires and test them with a multi meter when the engine is running. BTW - I see the blue can that you used to fill the tank. Didn't know that they made a blower that runs on kerosene???? Edited January 19, 2022 by Achto

ebinmaine 67,481 #17 Posted January 19, 2022 I do. REALLY try... To stay positive about everything in life. But sometimes... There are situations... That require a little anti positive. If I knew for sure that "repair" shop actually did that... I'd be positive about spreading that info all over everywhere. That is. Literally. Robbery. It's disgusting.
Pullstart 62,851 #18 Posted January 20, 2022 If I’d have known the shop… I’d be sure to say so. Funny the service order tag was so professional, but no shop name.

I’ll look for my meter(s) yeah they both grow legs or I’m having a long continuous doh! moment… but at least the bulb is 12v. I should have looked, but maybe it has a reg/rect. in the shroud?

I hear stories like this and think of someone's grandmother getting ripped off from a "shop" being incompetent or deceitful. I am certain the next big snowfall we have will present you with a flurry of buyers for that rig. If I hadn't just bought a blower for my C165, I'd be interested. 1

Pullstart 62,851 #22 Posted January 22, 2022 Update, I saw the previous owner last night and asked her who last worked on it. Sure enough, the shop she purchased the new one from. I begged her to never use them again. I can do it better, or anyone for that matter. Other people had tinkered with it previously, so it’s hard to know if they did the twist n tape, or just didn’t look into finding it. It wasn’t very hard to troubleshoot no spark, find out why, etc.

Whether or not they attempted to fix the machine their business practices are nothing less than deceitful. I wonder if the OWNER of the business knows this occured and /or is the actual root cause. Again. Absolutely disgusting. That's a business that should be investigated.
Pullstart 62,851 #24 Posted January 22, 2022 Absolutely. I am unsure of rules and whatnots, I’ve possessed this machine for about a year and they may have worked on it up to as far back as the previous season. Obviously at this point, not much can be done. Here’s the real sad part. Her response was “I could still buy stuff from them, right?” I pointed out how a business like that deserves no business at all. We can find her another dealer for her needs if that’s the case. 2
