Ark-550 pump and spool valve?

Recommended Posts

Has any one rebuilt their cesna pump and spool valve? Is pressure moderated with shims at the spool?

I burned through 2 tanks of gas moving rock this weekend and my hydraulic power fell off substantially.

The bucket will hold height (empty) over night. Didn't think to try it with weight.  It will only lift 300 ish pounds now. Belt/pto seems to work fine, not slipping.  No squeals or noise from system.  But it is slow.

My filter is on the return, I cut the top off the reservoir and it was clean 4 or 5 years ago, doesn't mean it is today. I assume I may have fed it some rust. Or the o rings dried up while it sat, I did cap everything when I disassembled it originally.

Quick follow up on this.  Trouble shooting I added a shim to the relief valve, it made no difference. The Northern pump I've seen recommended here hasn't been in stock, so I went with a new Parker D14AA1A pump because I found one CHEAP on the big auction site and this thing is working great again and fast!

Here is a quick list of what parts were required. Part numbers and price is current @ Burden sales

1-2193-50 1/2' Keyed split taper bushing   $6.90

1-BKH55  5.25" pulley $19.70

9-6901-10-8 SAE-10 male o-ring to female 1/2 npt swivel (inlet)  $5.00

9-6801-6-8 JIC 6M x SAE 8M 90 ELBOW  (outlet)  $2.75

With the taper bushing, the pulley moves closer to the pump, so I had to cut a bit over an inch out of the mounting support plate, #2309750 and burn it back together.
