Pullstart 62,840 #1 Posted January 10, 2022 Started my day with a visit to the chiropractor. “Now take it easy and don’t do anything stupid” he says as I’m leaving. Does that mean locking my keys in the truck out in the middle of nowhere, or cutting wood all day? Luckily my Fiskars and some branches got me back in the truck. Time to work!

I cut and whittled the branches, made a set of wedges to open the top of the door far enough to reach a branch in and press the button. I typically keep a couple extra plow stakes in my truck just for that reason. Too bad I pulled ‘em out the other day to go through an annual car wash… 3

8ntruck 6,998 #5 Posted January 10, 2022 I expected you to have used the Fiskars to cut canes to help you back to the truck, then use it again to break a window to get back into the truck. 1
Skwerl58 704 #6 Posted January 10, 2022 Hope the chiropractor helps you! I dont mind cutting wood it is the splitting that gets me. My splitter is a six pound Craftsman and after using it I feel I need a chiropractor. Does that Fiskars do a good job splitting?
Pullstart 62,840 #7 Posted January 10, 2022 @Skwerl58 that Fiskars is the best I’ve found yet!

I have a Fiskars ax myself that is Teflon coated and has extra little wedges on each side. It's basically the atomic bomb of wood splitting hand utensils. I don't use it for splitting bigger wood anymore because we have the monster splitter. We most certainly do keep it right handy in the cellar and use it on a regular basis for creating kindling.

Yeah that, except I’m too stubborn to haul a splitter out to the woods with me!

I've got the Cinnamon Horse C160 set up specifically to pull that Beast around the forest. Extra tall trailer hitch and I keep it weighted year-round.

The challenge is hauling the splitter out, doing work, hauling it back, etc. I’d hate for it to come up missing, but I know I’ll return on a regular (weekly?) basis. Pullstart 62,840 #13 Posted January 10, 2022 “Don’t do anything stupid” he says. Once again, another story. The chainsaw started running rough, and then died. I pulled the plug, it’s quite black and thick. Poor spark. I ran into town, got a new plug, dropped off what wood I had cut, practically rebuilt the saw taking things apart, cleaning, reassembling. Good spark. Still no start. Maybe coil gap? Nope, that’s good. Timing is right. Have compression. It was just running. What could be so wrong? Check fuel. The rest is history. It gave me a good time to thoroughly clean the machine, something that was needed badly. I also cleaned the air filter and tuned the idle a bit too. I have tons of cutting power now, and truck keys are in my pocket! I need to yank this hanger down and get it cut up too. Still nothing like free (ish) firewood! 1 1

What I can lift in moderation, doesn’t get split. For reference though, my saw has a 20” bar. This is a hefty log! I think I max out the truck’s limits long before the bed is considered full
