Gregor 4,847 #1 Posted January 4, 2022 A while back I ordered a set of snap ring pliers from McMaster Carr. The snap ring pliers didn't show up. I got an e-mail from McMaster Carr, apologizing for the delay, and offering to send this set as a replacement, for the same cost. Would I trade a $110 set for a $225 set? Oh I think so. Got them today. Pretty happy with that deal me thinks. While on the subject of ordering things, I ordered a gear shift knob from Steiner Tractor Parts. It came yesterday. Not only did I get the knob, but I got a catalog also, and on top of that, I got some candy. I'm making out like a bandit this week. 7 6 1

pacer 3,174 #3 Posted January 4, 2022 Ahh!, McMaster..... they're a bit pricy but.... wow, they have got ---- bout everything, and of the hundreds of items I've ordered over the years from everyplace, they are the FASTEST, often one day. Then there is the service, which as you found, is great. All in all, goes a long way to make up for the difference of cost. 5
ri702bill 8,516 #4 Posted January 4, 2022 Most of us grew up watching the Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons before they were reruns. Sometimes I think McMaster bought out ACME where the Coyote got all his stuff .... Bill 6

There should be some in there that will help pull balance grenade gears.

squonk 41,443 #14 Posted January 5, 2022 I needed 10 belts the same size and in a hurry for a couple of Air Handlers right before Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. Plus the school wanted 2 spare sets. I'm thinking, where am I going to find 20 3VX560 belts ? I didn't want Grainger's Dayton crap. So I call McMaster. They have Gates belts. Yup we got 38 of those you'll have them tomorrow. They have their own UPS terminal right there. Well next day no belts. I called McMaster. They said the belts left but UPS pulled all of their trucks off the road due to weather.
peter lena 8,752 #15 Posted January 5, 2022 @Gregor like the old style , fixed tip , plyers , just much stronger , less failures. another thing no one mentions is a penetrating oil soak in the RING GROVE , if you are trying to remove a spring ring with out lubricant , you just made it much harder , don't ask me how I know this , pete
Gregor 4,847 #16 Posted January 5, 2022 That one particular snap ring on the balance gears in a 341 is a PITA !

The cadies are made in Baraboo WI. https://baraboocandy.com/ Seems like there's a thing about animal waste going on here! Now that we've gotten @Gregor's Snap Ring topic totally off topic, I can't wait until @ebinmaine weights in with some Maine products, maybe something with Bear ______ in the name. Then again we've got Beaver Nuggets in Texas, so who am I to talk about animal waste. You sure can't say we don't learn new things on RedSquare! 1 3
