I would even be tempted to put a "tent" over it if you will to keep undesirables off of it till it sets good. I was taught early to be proud of my work, but if "necessary" always place your mark in the back or hidden showing humility and not detracting from the actual beauty of a piece by placing a boisterous signature in front. A project to be proud of and a great example to your children. May you all live long peaceful lives sitting together at it. You gave it a few coats I believe. Done naturally without any heat being applied just as in a booth that may take well over one month. The curing happens by the finish carrier evaporating from the bottom up leaving only the solids. Specially when multiple coats are applied consecutively without curing each one that process can take quite a while specially in a high solids finish like that. You can repair the imprints by buffing that finish with a compound pretty much like a car. Wait until it is finally cured to do that. If you then do it keep in mind that that process created heat therefore softening the finish somewhat. Have to give a little time to harden again before final usage. Meanwhile what you are doing by placing place mats on it is the thing to do.
