Been watching my head temps (K241s)

And made a video.  Holds 266 mowing at 77* ambient..its amazing how quickly the engine heat soaks on shutdown

intresting! head temps can tell a lot about fuel ratios as well.

Yes it can, get too lean and you'll see a big spike in temp.

 

I had grass accumulate on the chaff screen and saw temps rise pretty fast...hit 285 in no time.

Its off ebay, the ring lead goes under the plug, 2 wires to the battery or 12v for the light and 12v readout.

Super interesting!

I did a pretty 'warmed up' K321 last year, and installed an oil temp gauge to monitor one from the bottom.  Was surprised to see the gauge barely tickle 150, and that was on a 80 degree day, jerking a plow around the garden.

Keep updates going, interesting stuff!

Splash lubed engines tend to run cooler oil, I put a gauge on a 25hp kohler command twin and saw 190 at the filter adapter but my M10s running at 50% duty cycle barely hit 140

Sounds about right! I was expecting to see much higher temps for a big ol hunk of cast iron.  Betting the rod journal is a lot more than 150 though haha
