Question and belt for a snowthrower

Hey there folks.  I have a 77 b-100 with a snowblower on the front.

Firstly, a friend of mine told me that those old single stage blowers aren't worth using.   As long as I don't overload it, do they tend to work fine?

And, it currently has a 5L690 belt on it that I assume is old and I was going to get a replacement.   Does that sound like the right one or does anyone know where the document is that tells us which belts to use? 

I can get a pic of the details on the blower tag if you need it.

10 hp will run a single stage blower. Just won't do what a bigger engine will do. May have to go a little slower, but it sure beats a shovel.....and

If you know the model # of the blower, find the manual in out "Manuals Section" it should tell you the belt size.
