My second winter project.

 This was F/B for a while now, so I sent him a message. This with the commando should keep me busy till spring.    It is really dirty but that is what you get when you mow. Looks like this was only a mower its whole life. I hope you enjoy the picks.

Looks positively spotless compared to many that I've seen!

 

But I just noticed that it's wet, so maybe it's already had a bath?

 @ RETIRED WRENCHER , agree with jeff above , compaired to what i normally see , thats in good shape , leaf blower blow down , base line service , steering end links replaced , note rust dust at front king pin area , jack that up off ground to grease those fittings , due a lubrication do over at every movement point . flip that deck over , give it a thorough lubrication spray down , and cleaning . let it soak in the oil , grease those spindles , (   only if you want to )  , looks very savable , good lick with it , pete

Thanks Pete. Good words spoken. This is just to keep me from going stir crazy form winter and it was on the cheap side. Always happy for another project.

B80 4 speed is a great little beast for lots things. 

Plenty of torque. Sips fuel.

@ RETIRED WRENCHER,  a winter brain saver , is something to take your time on , obviously  take advantage of what works , and enhance that , so it solid . often talk about roller stool time. often just a sitting look at how its saposed to work , gives me an idea change , making it solid and reliable. wiring corrosion , cracked connections , grease on a rusty sloppy joint, have often marveled at how easily these tractors work with simple upgrades.  if you re grease the  pto cone bearing , use the lucas xtra hd chassis grease , 560 drop temp anti sling polyurea rated , wipe out , just enough to lightly cover needles, and related linkage , spins up with solid ease. its the little things that have made my stuff a pleasure to use. . good luck with it , pete

Nice, looks like it’s  in great condition.The deck is clean too! 
I just picked up a B80  myself.No mower deck but it came with a plow and a price I just couldn’t pass up.

Thanks Eric. This will be a flip tractor. It was cheap enough so in the spring down the road it goes.

W.H.#! Agree on that. It needs a tlc but nothing that cannot be fixed.

Z06 I am not a deck guy. That is the way it was mounted. Like I said in my post, I believe this was a mower it`s whole life.

Likely just the way a PO had it and didn't know any better. 

Far as I know it's the same for 8 or other HP engines.

Yes Eric this was hand me down tractor to him. Did not know what he had. Used it one summer went to a zero turn.

Ol boy was really sacrificing some blade speed, bet it cut poorly like that, like running at lower engine speed

If you go to mow with her, loosen the mule drive abd run the belt in the larger pulley, then retension, it'll cut way better, its probably giving up 20% of the blade speed with it in the outer pulley
