WHX?? 48,815 #11 Posted December 31, 2021 Yep that's it Steve... a guy had one awhile back here that was restoed and beautiful. Anyway some more info on them Greg just to edumacate ya and Silvia told me to be nice and IT IS indeed cocktail hour. There are actually quite a few out there yet and wouldn't surprise me if a couple of guys here have one. A restoed collectors edition is goes for about 4K and you'll see them pop up on the usual auction sites for not much less for a basket case. Most often missing a windshield or shredded seat. I guess it goes to the old saying they are worth what one is willing to pay. Personally on Squonkys side of the fence about sleds.
WHX?? 48,815 #12 Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) Is that what the motors were Dan ? BTW Greg that one that you showed looked like a nice survivor. Edited December 31, 2021 by WHX??
Gregor 4,846 #13 Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) Never been on a snow mobile in my life. At this stage of the game, there is no sense changing that now. Although a 2 cycle Kohler could be interesting, it's not $1500 interesting. Edited December 31, 2021 by Gregor 3

Guy tried to convince me that they were something more special (air craft engine), but it didn't look any different than SkiDoo snowmobile engine to me. Gregor 4,846 #15 Posted December 31, 2021 Here is a couple more pics. Is the sled Wheel Horse also? It is on FB. I would post a link, but that is frowned upon.

They are fun, I used to ride a lot when I was younger and we actually had enough snow to use them. A break down in the middle of the night in sub zero weather resulting in near hypothermia was the last straw for me. (Yes I was with friends, but a person gets cold easily when your just sitting on the back as a passenger.) Sold the sleds the following winter and haven't owned on sense. I have considered getting a sled again but thousands of dollars for something that I can maybe use 7 days out of the year just don't add up. If I really get the itch I could always rent one for a day, let some one else deal with the maintenance and storage.
WHX?? 48,815 #17 Posted January 1, 2022 I hear ya Dan ...if I wanted to be in the "crowd" and have fun went I was younger you had to have a sled but there was snow back then. When I married Ciiinnnndday back in the day she came with a Ski Doo. It had a couple of bogeys that had bad bearings that bothered me so I replaced them at 100 clams a wheel. Talk about seeing me coming. Then one night I said let's go for a ride. She never hopped on and I took off and after a mile figured she wasn't on the back but making snow angels. SOLD the thing and never looked back.

lynnmor 7,305 #20 Posted January 1, 2022 I snowmobiled for 38 years, rode in 13 states and 3 provinces. We had a large snowmobile club in southern Pennsylvania with one member having an 18 wheeler that hauled 30 sleds while we flew to the destinations. It is about as much fun as one can have with their pants on. I recently sold the sleds and trailer with all the goodies since age and snow conditions haven't been favorable. It was hard to give it up being a big part of my life for so many years. The sights and enjoyment of riding in a winter wonderland is beyond compare, for example seeing Canadian lynx behind the @ebinmaine house is just a sample. He never saw it. 4
oliver2-44 9,743 #21 Posted January 1, 2022 A coworker retired as soon as he could get full benefits. He loved Colorado and got a job at a USBR dam in Colorado to work 5 years and double dip on a pension. I visited him early March one year. He lived at 9,000 ft and took me snowmobiling. At about 13000 ft I tpounded him on the shoulder to stop. In 12 hours I had gone from 800 ft MSL to 13000 ft. I was gasping for air. So we headed down the mountain. That's the one and only snowmobile trip for this Texas guy! OK, next time I'll acclimatize myself a little more! 1 1
