WHGuy413 2,696 #1 Posted December 30, 2021 Hey all, I’m finally back. It’s been a long road the last few years but finally getting back into the Wheel Horse world with big thanks to my boys but mostly my youngest Alex. The other day while cruising Facebook market place I found a 604 that was completely disassembled. Some parts painted some not. The gentleman had owned it since day one. I scooped it up last night thinking my boys would like it as a project and their first round hood. My older son is at that age where he doesn’t want to hang out in the garage much anymore but my youngest jumped at the opportunity. He has almost completely put it back together in less than a day. I need to help him with the engine and find some front tires and a seat pan and he will Have a nice little tractor. I showed him this page and he’s been browsing the classifieds looking for his next project already! 4 8
Pullstart 62,905 #2 Posted December 30, 2021 Back! Just to make sure, I bought the 656 with a borrowed transmission from your friend at the 2018 Big Show with your transmission? That machine is now in Bavaria if you weren’t aware
Pullstart 62,905 #3 Posted December 30, 2021 Oh geeze, Awesome work on the 604 too! For some reason, I feel like I need to add a 604 or 654 to the collection some day.

Seems he never squared up with me for that transmission either lol. I remember you had it looking good before the end of the show. How in the world did it make it to Bavaria?? My daughter is 16 and is more worried about getting her own license and car but she does like to share seat time with the boys. My 12 year old has drifted from it a little bit but I think if my next project is to fix his 1277 he will get back into it.

I believe it was you we came down and picked up a rolling chassis from two or three years ago? That's the one that is now Millie, The Military Tribute Tractor. If the boy is hounding you then clearly you guys need more shop time. 👍👍👍

How in the world did it make it to Bavaria?? @Tractorhead was looking for a 3 speed transmission to rework his vertical shaft Horse, then it turned into a search for a whole tractor he kind of asked if I could help with crating, then I offered that one up. He had helped a good customer in a tough position once, and the customer offered him a thank you by using his import/export shipping company. I never did get the missing audio fixed in this video, but it shows how it went.

I believe I went to New York for a snow thrower for one of my suburbans and picked that up for you too. Plus you gave my older son a snow plow from that package deal if I remember correctly. Which I’m happy to say he does use! We did take it off the tractor this fall and cleaned it up and re painted it. I do need to do some major work to it this spring. But he’s happy! He’s still into it off and on but not like he was. It’s that age! Too cool to hang out with dad some times.

WHGuy413 2,696 #18 Posted January 11, 2022 Here’s an update on Alex’s 604. We waited a couple weeks for all new electrical parts and when they got here he wasn’t home. He got home today and naturally didn’t care that it’s only 7 degrees out and the garage isn’t heated. I convinced him that we could bring the engine in and work on it on the dining room table. He said to me “dad we can’t do that” my reply was “well there’s no one here to yell at us” which he then agreed with. So we brought it in and he helped me install the new parts. After a little adjusting we had good blue spark. Now we can clean up the mud wasp nest and a few other things and put it back together. Getting spark was the first step towards making this run. He’s pretty happy and so am I. Just remember folks…. If you’re cold, their cold. Bring them inside. 3 2

Today I will in the garage lapping valves. Edited January 12, 2022 by Retierd Wrencher

Pullstart 62,905 #22 Posted January 12, 2022 I’ve heard many a story of kids in the 70’s bringing their air cooled VW into their room to work on ‘em! Why not a Heart?
