We dropped off some cookies at the neighbors Christmas eve.  They have a 2-1/2 yr old boy and a new born.  The Little boy never shuts up and during one monologue used the word Fricking....

My sincere apologies. I guess different things are important to different people. Don't know what I was thinking. :eusa-doh:

Do not apologize for the way you feel about this. Your feelings on this are not unique to you. Your specific complaint may not seem "severe" enough for some but it is legitimate and a sign of worst things to come in the horizon. You have the right to not want your grandchildren exposed to that language.

We speak here also about will power and stopping addictions such as to tobacco by using just that. We also compare it to heroin addiction. Most of us that do not have one or the other really have no idea what we are talking about. I have never been addicted to anything in my life with the exception of cake. Although I have never spoken about it here before my life has however been affected by tobacco addiction which is really inconsequential compared to the other addiction which affects my life. Heroin addiction by someone very close and dear to me. Comparing the reactions to quitting attempts on the two is really with all due respect a bit ignorant. Knowing the two on a very personal basis has given me a rather deep understanding on the struggles of stopping either. Our society and systems are not conducive to it.

Promoting will power for it although with good intentions, it is a bit naive. Lots of forces not under our control at work here.

I don't think it's naive to believe that Cas.

If one has the will power to quit smoking, they can do it.

The forces that are not under our control regarding smoking can in fact be overcome with will power.

Will power is simply exercising the desire to quit.  If you WANT to quit tobacco, by exercising the will power to do so, you WILL succeed.

Heroin is another story... it is a MUCH different type of addiction and is not as easily overcome as tobacco addiction.  I've had the same experience with close friends and family being addicted.  Sadly, all but one of them are no longer with us.
