Is this normal on my two stage blower?

Recommended Posts

Never really noticed this on previous years. On the up( transport) position unit is tilted to the left

when facing tractor. I can pull on the low side and it will move but fall back to canted position. Everything is engaged correctly under and in front of tractor.

Do you have the big, ugly lift spring installed on the right side?  Is it installed correctly?

The one under tractor on lift bar? #5 on diagram? Not yet. Is that the cause of this?

How do you guys install that damn spring ? Drives me nuts each time. I cannot extend it enough to reach hooking point.

To get that spring on, I place the blower shoes on 4 x 6 blocks.

The big, ugly spring installs vertically at the right front of the tractor.

Did you push the tension lever down?

You might have excessive wear in the Tach-a-Matic hitch, it doesn't take a lot to throw it off.

Mine doesn’t pick up exactly level either.

Not to hijack this thread, but is this spring the same one that goes on the flag on a single stage blower...

No. That may be my problem right there. I’ll review that tomorrow.

on the other spring do you install it prior to engaging bar on tractor lift arm? I just can’t seem to have the strength needed to extend spring enough to hook it on the tab.

I must be doing something wrong . It was level last year.

Mounting this thing is not kind on my aging body anymore.  I have decided that this is too much to do each year. This one will now stay set up with blower and cab for the winters . I will set another one up for mowing only.

That is my intention as well, this age thing was something that I didn't agree to participate in.

Every snowblower I ever had on a tractor lifted like that. I think the belt tension is the cause of it. Try it with the belt off the PTO pulley

I believe that I connected the vertical lift part up front after everything.

In previous years I always resorted to placing washers in between every coil on that freaking spring so it would reach tab. It looked like the spine on a dinosaur by the time I was able to engage it.

So I went down and checked mine, it's dead level.

That is how it was last year. Will have to revise the installation of the springs.

Yes, the same spring is used there as well as help with lifting a rototiller.

You may want to check the air pressure in your front tires before making any other adjustments.

You can ask me why I suggest this, but you need not.

That spring (2) is to level out the lifted blower. Guessing the lift link arm isn't locked into position adding the spring tension.

Dedicated tractor for mine as well and it stays somewhat level. It will rock back and forth when raised and you can feel that #2 spring tension when doing it by hand.
