Skwerl58 704 #1 Posted December 22, 2021 I mentioned last week that I might be looking at a couple of tractors, a GT 14 and 1054. Well today I picked them up and plan to work on them this spring. The tractors appear to be complete except for no pto on the GT 14. The tractors have been stored inside and were caught in a flash flood a couple of years ago. I will wash and clean them up before I start working on them. I noticed today that one has a sediment bowl at the tank and I actually got a key with the 1054. The deck turns on the 1054 but is rusted. I will be hitting the files here and asking lots of questions. Can someone tell me what year are these tractors? Merry Christmas!! 7

Pullstart 62,871 #4 Posted December 22, 2021 Congrats on the big wheel combo! Do the engines roll over? After a flash flood, it’s anybody’s guess…
Skwerl58 704 #5 Posted December 22, 2021 The GT 14 is free and haven't tried the 1054. I will take my time and try to figure out the best path forward .

Maxwell-8 4,275 #7 Posted December 22, 2021 Nice score!! A question: are big wheels faster then regular wheel Wheel Horses? I guess they use the same transmissions.

I know it isn’t too noticeable according to the butt dyno.

On the 1054 the driven pulley at the transmission input shaft is larger than you will find on the models with twelve inch tires so they are about the same. My GT-14 is faster than any of the gear drive units but seems to be a bit slower than the 418-C. I don't have a calibrated "butt dyno" like @Pullstart. 1

Skwerl58 704 #11 Posted December 22, 2021 I just hope I can get one of these up to speed!
stevasaurus 22,739 #12 Posted December 22, 2021 All Wheel Horse gear driven transmissions have the same gear ratios. The differences in speeds come from engine and input pulleys and tire sizes.
Stormin 9,981 #13 Posted December 22, 2021 I made up a lead to connect my sat nav to my Sears GT16 battery. Proved the 6.3mph the makers claimed. Yet to try it on the Wheel Horses.
WHGuy413 2,683 #14 Posted December 31, 2021 Nothing wrong with a Christmas come early present like that! I haven’t found any of those styled tractors yet for my collection but maybe some day!
