Solid Motor Mount Question

Recommended Posts

Moparfanforever

I just recently got this sun baked C101 and I am thinking about swapping in the solid mounts.

Do you have to pull the engine to do the swap?? This is my first shaker .

How much oil does this style oil pan hold  ??

Thanks  !!

Why do u want to remove the shaker plates? I have had a 1979 c-101 from new and have zero problems with them. Plowed alot of snow and mowed a lot of grass over 42 years still going strong with no problems. Bob

Oil capacity 1-1/2 quarts.

Click on the fuzzy picture in the link for the chart

The mounts need replaced , not much rubber left. Figured solid mounts would be cheaper than buying the OG style rubber mounts.

I installed mine with the engine in place. It was a royal pain to get all 4 large bolts to thread and that engine is not very light. Seems the only way to do it. Good luck!

Not much different than a C81

Do both at one end but not tight - pry and wiggle the other end to do the same - then tighten all 4.

Been there . done that ....

Thanks for the replies, going to try to install the solid mounts with the engine in the tractor.

Lots cheaper this way but you do have to lift the engine to do it

I haven't looked under the tractor yet, but it looks like maybe getting to the bolts on the front gizmo might be a pain  ??

Yeah, the rear is more accessible if I recall correctly but that front requires a little more in the way of suspension and PTO effort. I approached the job thinking it would be a cake walk but even leaving the entire setup loose, getting those last two in there was very difficult. Ah well.

Perhaps stacked washers would be a cheap and easier to install solid alternative? Just musing. Have not done it… :confusion-confused:

I haven’t installed solids but in my complete restoration of my c161 I reinstalled the rubber mounts. It was a pita to line everything up. Just take your time and employ patience. You can do it.
