rmaynard 15,593 #2 Posted December 19, 2021 Looks like that tranny sat out in the rain for a long time. If I'm seeing it correctly it looks like most of the shaft is rusted away. You might have to crack her open and see what's going on inside as well. RED-Z06 2,245 #3 Posted December 19, 2021 I had some knock er loose left in an old can...dribbled it on, hit it with the blow torch for about 2 minutes, more knock er loose, then vice grips on the shifter stub...kept repeating this and darned if it didnt come loose, shifts clean between Hi and Lo now...id have never believed it to be possible without snspping that stub clean off. Yeah 16 years in the weather...but get this, no water in the trans, no slurry, no milk...no rust on the dipstick. wallfish 17,079 #8 Posted December 19, 2021 Amazing! Well, the gear oil can seep in enough to get those hubs loose too so guessing the gear oil did it's job on the bottom of that shaft too.
