The unbelievable thing happend.

A local seller, (which I bought the 312 from) has a NOS 42" rear discharge deck for sale. Still in the box.

What would it be worth, so I can make him a fair offer.

thanks!

Many years ago ( some time in the early 90's ) my 36 SD deck (1972) finally died , I paid about $700.00 USD for a 36 inch RD deck which is still in use

If I'm looking at pictures correctly, that is a vertical shaft deck. The shell may be able to be adapted to fit your tractor but will not "bolt on" as it sets. I understand your location may limit your access to Wheel Horse parts/attachments but keep that in mind when pricing.

Its a vertical shaft deck for a lawn tractor, but it can be adapted. If you really need a deck $600 or 700 would not be too much. The last 300 series decks were probley over $1000

Yes and no. The vertical shaft parts will need removing, but the mounting holes for the tach-a-matic hitch are clearly visible. The hitch from a donor will go on without modification. The only thing I can't be sure of is what the modified center scalp wheel bracket is for. Looks like the additional part of it will come off.

May need a double pulley added to the middle spindle too.

I'd offer $600 and go from there. The last new deck I asked about was $800 from a dealer. Vertical shaft tractors and attachments were less expensive.

Just realized it as well, relooking at the ad.

The vertical engine WheelHorse are plentifull, the horizontal shafts are rare. at least a 20:1 ratio.

I still have those parts, from the rusted-out deck that came with my C-175

Since that apparently is a light duty deck for a 200 series tractor, i wouldn't pay a premium price for it.  I believe it does not have the solid bar around the bottom edge to reinforce it.

I have put a bar around a couple older decks. It's not a hard job start on the end weld it fast bend clamp and weld it fast about every 4 or 6 ". I used a 3/8" cold roll rod. Dad bought a bunch at the scrap yard, the reason it was there was it's so hard you can't tap treads on it easily.
