wfrpalm 218 #7 Posted December 18, 2021 My 875 has the same problem of not having a neutral, you have to figure out a way to get the metal strips to fit against the nylon block tighter.

Get a new plastic block and metal strips from wheelhorsepartsandmore. Get 2 Allen head screws to replace the slotted head ones. This allows you to get them tighter. Then add 2 flat washers under the spring s where they hit the strips. This puts more pressure on the strips. 4

The 1965 transmissions left the factory with automatic transmission fluid but many were changed over to 10 W 30 motor oil along the way. Remove the dip stick and place it on a clean white cloth, of the oil is pink it is ATF as @squonk suggested, if it is amber you will want to use 10 W 30 oil. I have been using Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic 10 W 30 fluid from Tractor Supply. Regardless of the type you will want to get a gallon of fluid. When you drain the old fluid you should jack the front of the tractor up as far as you can safely, this will help completely drain the old fluid. Page 4 and 5 of this manual will help you adjust for neutral.

squonk 41,161 #12 Posted December 18, 2021 Another thing. The shaft the idler pulley for the belt drive passes thru the motion lever frame. It needs to move freely. If it binds, when the throttle is increased the belt will pull on the pulley harder forcing it down. This action will move the motion control forward. You don't want that. Look at this picture. A previous owner made some modifications (notice the threaded pipes in side the motion control) and had things all bound up in an attempt to tighten the motion control.

Must have been a pretty big budget to change the advertising literature each year.
