Jrain 276 #1 Posted December 17, 2021 SO I recently saved this 16 automatic from the scrap yard , got the engine up and running . But having trans issues, so I cleaned everything up and got all the controls F& D ,brake and drive belt engagement working smoothly, Had a extra new 1410 filter from my c120 so I put that in because it had a huge Fram filter in it and just did not look right I did all this prior to trying even to engage the transmission. .So I started the tractor and it does have hydraulics and they do work at any engine speed ,then I put it In to reverse ,when the throttle reaches about half position the tractor does move in reverse but not well , very low speed so to speak , then I put it in to forward Nothing no movement at all at any engine speed , I would like some help on trying to sort this out being I really do not know about these transmissions and what direction I should be moving towards at this point . Yes thank you for that I did have this downloaded already and I am reading through it now , Yes the towvalve is closed so tight I could not even budge it in either direction but it does look to be closed and the tractor does not move when not running. pfrederi 17,866 #4 Posted December 17, 2021 How does your plastic slider in the motion control look is it moving the shaft into the pump OK. Also is the plate tightly welded to the motion control cross shaft and bolted in place.

Ok I will have to check those 2 things like I said I cleaned everything in there until I felt all was operating smoothly ,I did not look behind the slider after cleaning it to check and if the shaft was moving properly , How far does the the shaft move in to the pump what type of movement am I looking for , as far as the weld and bolt on the cross shaft I will look to see if it is ok. Thanks for the good advice

My guess is that your acceleration valve springs may be broken. The springs take a pounding when the tractor is rapidly shifted from forward to reverse and when they are broken the symptoms are as you have described.

OK thank you for your diagnosis and as I was reading the trouble shooting guide it did lead me in that direction on either a issue with as you said the acceleration valves or the charge valves and already printed off the directions on the disassembly repair and assembly of these valves , So your post gives me hope that the issue is not catastrophic or a difficult fix. Thanks for your input and help 1

squonk 41,314 #10 Posted December 18, 2021 The large shaft in Paul's pic. Make sure the allen screw inside the arm that attaches to that shaft is tight.
Jrain 276 #11 Posted December 24, 2021 So had some time today to look at the transmission issues , first thing I found was the cam housing plate (cam guide frame ) that is attached to the trans was very loose the 2 allen screws were almost backed all the way out So I pulled the entire shifter assembly out to gain access then noticed the brake spring was disconnected and a mess so took care of that I was able to disassemble the entire cam mechanism pulled it all out cleaned and put it all back in using loctite on the allen screws , cleaned lubed the shifter mechanism and got everything in there working properly Then I proceeded to look in to the acceleration Valves ,so being I have a little experience with theses valve because I added hydraulics to my c120. and being this auto 16 has hydraulics it should have the same added internal parts kit for hydraulic operation , I noticed right away when I took the forward cap off , the spring came out but not the ball , I put a magnet in to the cavity to retrieve the ball and nothing , so then I probed around in the cavity with a pick , I could feel the ball lodged in the corner so to speak , offset not center in the cavity, I then removed the hydraulic hose from the intersecting side and probed in that cavity, I left my magnet in the other cavity incase the ball got released , again I could feel the ball lodged in the side, Not centered in that cavity either ,and there was enough gap along side of the ball where my pick fit through and moved the magnet that I had placed in the other cavity. So I feel this is my issue . the ball somehow is very tightly stuck it will not move at all , I do not want to force anything till someone with experience can tell me what I should do at this point .
