I was two, maybe three years old.  We moved into another home.  The back lot was wooded and loaded with PI.

 

Dad decided to clear the lot by burning.

 

Little Jeffy playing in his sand box was downwind.

 

He ended up in hospital for two weeks.  Nearly died.  Of course I don't remember it but Maw had photos.  Really scary photos.

Every spring he broken out from head to foot because he breathed in the smoke. He bought calamine lotion by the case and had a note from the Dr. so he could wear shorts to work . He broke out every spring until he died. DON"T BURN POISON IVY !

For  fence rows I know of a few people  that mix Roundup and Crossbow. They use a recommended blend and it keeps the fence rows clear. The also buy the Rural King or store brand to save funds for other projects.

Let me tell you IT WORKS. I was tired of spraying the limestone along our drive 4 or 5 times a year. One shot of RM43 and that was it. Be careful though. It will migrate and kill more than you planned to. Fortunately nothing important was destroyed. Poison ivy is listed and while I can't vouch for it in that regard but I'd bet it would do the job as long as there wasn't something you didn't want dead nearby. 

 

That is about the same as Roundup.  You can buy 41% Glyphosate at many farm supply stores, what you have is 43% so it is just a bit stronger.  Just buy the cheapest Glyphosate you can find, I get mine at TSC.

@PullstartAfter using the Woody plant poison you will need to rinse your sprayer out very thoroughly with soap and water.

Some years ago I was using a hand  pump sprayer with Sendero and water to kill small Mesquites.  Rinsed it out and put some garden bug spray in it.......dead garden

Not a bad idea to have multiple sprayers!

 

One that kills stuff.

 

One that makes stuff grow.

 

Maybe one more for stuff like Neem oil and fungicides and stuff.

 Yes today I have 3 clearly marked pump sprayers.

 

One that kills plants and trees

 

One that kills bugs

 

One that applies liquid fertilizers and healthy things for plants

The main ingredient is the same as Roundup but there's something else in it. I used Roundup for many years and had many years of frustration. Even with their 365 and Extended control. Used the RM43 for the first time last year and I was amazed. I have about 250' of drive with about 16" of limestone on either side of the blacktop. I always had to spray the stone 4 or 5 times a summer. This past summer, once in the early spring and zero weeds all summer. Again though, it migrates a lot. It killed everything about 6" past the drive limestone. That was good. It made mowing easier. Another area I sprayed was the firepit pavers. Again, it used to be 4 or 5 times a year to keep the weeds in control. This was 1 time last spring. It's a good thing we have a 'yard' and not a 'lawn' though. The area to the left slopes slightly downhill. It was the natural area for it to migrate. Again, that was one spraying early last spring and that picture was taken today. 

 

 

As far as cost goes. I didn't do the math but this 2.5 gallon jug was about $80.00. Considering how much usable product it will yield it's way cheaper than any Roundup product.

In addition to lots of PI around here, for which Crossbow works extremely well, there is also that damn Wisteria!  I've been battling that your about a decade now.  I knock it down with crossbow, and every year more of it comes up.  If I don't inspect early each year and 'shoot the sheriff', it comes back full force.  

 

If anyone has found something that actually works for Wisteria, please advise!

 

OH... this it a sorta funny story.  Pie Pan Flowering Hibiscus is EXTREMELY sensitive to Crossbow!  Several years ago I was spraying on a day with very little wind, in fact, none that I could feel.  I was about 100 feet away from the Treasurers Hibiscus.  The next day it was all wilted over.  Oh 5h1t !  Apparently the 'drift' from the spray got to it.  And it had to be VERY little.  So I sprayed it down with dish soap and water, and sprayed again, and again, and managed to 'save' the plant.  BUT, the stems were grew in CURLS!  Now, the weird part about this is that the next year it came back with straight stems, but some of the plants (there are several, they all had RED flowers) had WHITE flowers with PINK centers.  Another had PINK flowers with RED center!  The Crossbow performed some sorta genetic engineering on those plants that changed the flower color!  The Treasurer was actually HAPPY about that!  She loves the variety now!
